Pattern of a doll from Toni Finanger

A very large niche in modern needlework took such a direction as the creation of an interior doll. It would seem that little girls should play such toys, but no, adult women not only sew, but also collect them, sitting on shelves of their house, exchange with other needlewomen and give their grown-up relatives and acquaintances. And helping them in this is the pattern of the doll. And not one, but dozens.

It began more than ten years ago in Norway. The first pattern of a doll-tilde was invented by a girl from this northern country Tony Finanger. In 1999 she opened her first store called "Tilda" and published two books: "Tilda Christmas" and "Tilda Pascha". The books gave a step-by-step description of the creation of toys, and the shop sold individual master classes and all the materials needed for the needlework.

Tildes are called primitive toys. They do not have a clearly traced face, the distinctive features of the dolls are bruised cheeks and small eye-beads. According to the original idea, the eyes should be performed in the technique of the French knot, but you can make them from beads or even draw the dots with acrylic paints.

For sewing tildes use natural fabrics: cotton, flannel, coarse calico, linen, felt, wool and felt. The colors of the materials are mostly gentle, pastel. Abroad, a special fabric for toys-primitives is produced - the so-called "American cotton", it is a pleasure to sew from it. Russian needlewomen either order it via the Internet, or are wriggled out by picking up material in local stores. But finding a beautiful coloring with a small pattern can be difficult. In some large cities there are shops that specialize in tilde toys, there are everything you need for sewing: Tony Finanger's books, a doll's pattern, fabrics and stuffing material, buttons, ribbons, laces, hair and finished products.

Tildes are different. Under this name sew princesses, fairies, girls "working profession": poultry, gardeners, tailors. There are tildes - fairy-tale characters: Pinocchio, staunch tin soldier and his dancer, Santa Claus. Thought Tony and a large number of toys-animals: sheep, cats, giraffes, goose, snails and many others. Tildes are called and small souvenirs, sewed from suitable fabrics: hearts, strawberries, tulips.

Tony Finanger's books are not translated into Russian, but this does not prevent the needlewomen from sewing toys: the doll's pattern is simple and understandable. For sewing, you can use a sewing machine, but the author most often makes products manually.

There are several tricks that make it possible to sew a toy, similar to the original. The pattern of the doll-tilde has its own peculiarities: the handles and legs are very thin. To twist the fabric, it is convenient to use a wooden Japanese chopstick. The limbs are not tight enough to the middle, and then knee and elbow folds are sewn, so the doll will be able to sit and hold various objects in hands. To the trunk, hands and feet are sewn either with secret stitches, or with the help of a button fastener.

Female tildes can boast of a wonderful tan. To get such a color, the fabric is dyed. There are two ways. The first: boil the matter in the water with several sachets of black tea or with coffee. The second: to color the ready-made body of the doll. To do this, make a mixture of coffee, cocoa, cinnamon, vanillin, water and PVA glue. Painted so tildes will smell just amazing!

Today Tony's name is known to almost all needlewomen in the world, so successful was the pattern of the doll.
