How to sew a skirt with your own hands?

The pattern of a children's skirt on an elastic band is so simple that even a beginner can make it. In addition, models for children are easier to perform, so it is recommended that you master the technique of sewing on them.

The main step in creating any thing is to build a pattern. In order to do it, you first need to take measurements. In the case of the skirt-sun, we are only interested in two parameters: the length of the product and the girth of the waist. The length can be different, depending on your preferences - short, medium or long.

What does the pattern of a children's skirt look like? First we build a scheme. To do this, you need to draw two circles. The inner side is the waist girth (2-3 cm is added for the allowance). Accordingly, the outside is the length of the product. Based on the available data, it is necessary to calculate the radius of the circle as follows: the circumference of the circle is divided by 2, and the resulting sum is multiplied by the number Pi (3.14). Calculate the radius of the circle from the outside is even simpler, it corresponds to the expected length of the skirt (plus a few centimeters per fold).

After the calculations, the pattern of the children's skirt is taken out on the fabric.

Sewing

To cut out the skirt-sun it is possible both from a continuous piece of a fabric, and from several parts, depending on imagination and size of a cloth.

• Fold the material four times for convenience. Using the tailor meter, it is necessary to measure the radius of the inner side of the circle from the central angle.
• Moving the meter in a circle, apply a marking to the woven cloth.
• Then, in the same way, mark the second radius (skirt hem).

• The next step is to cut out the details.
• Installation of gum (the process will be described in more detail below).
• Processing the bottom. Most often the edge of the skirt is processed by the method of folding, but it will be difficult to process the hem bottom of this model. An alternative option is to sew a decorative ribbon to the hem.

The process of sewing a skirt on an elastic band

The skirt-sun can be made in two ways: landing on a "coquette" (high belt) or on an elastic band. The second option is much simpler, so we will disassemble it, because for sewing "coquette" you need certain sewing skills.

• The elastic can be chosen any width (the main thing is that it would be convenient for the child).
• The length of the gum should be less than the waist circumference by 4-5 cm.
• The upper part of the skirt needs to be bent inward to the width of the gum, and then treat the hem with a seam, so that the distance to pass the gum is 1-1.5 cm.
• Put the elastic band inside the belt.
• Sew a rubber band together.
• Sew incomplete line.

Method 2

• Take a thick rubber band, sew the ends of it.
• Place the elastic on the top edge of the product, with the pins at four points.
• Pulling it up, sew it to the fabric with a decorative seam.

Cotton summer skirt for girls

The specified volumes are suitable for a child of 104-110 cm in height (for a different size, it is necessary to slightly adjust the belt in a larger or smaller direction).

The pattern of the children's skirt and its tailoring is as follows:

• The main fabric is 100% cotton. It is necessary to cut out two strips in width of 60 -70 cm, depending on how much the magnificent skirt you want. You can choose any length.
• For a belt, any knitted material (the main thing is that it should stretch well), for example, kashkors. You will also need two strips of this fabric. Their length is the waist circumference, and the width is 15-20 cm (the belt can be made thicker or thinner, at your discretion).
• The details of the belt are sewn on the sides.
• The main parts are sewn along the lateral seams.
• The upper and lower parts of the skirt are sewn together, bending the lower part in such a way that creases are formed.
• The upper part of the belt is stitched on the sewing machine or manually folded in to insert the elastic band.
• The hem of the skirt is bent and sewed.
• Insert the elastic band on the waist.
