Park "Kyoto" - a piece of Japan in the Ukrainian capital

Location of the park

Park "Kyoto" is located in the left-bank part of Kiev, in the territory of Desnyanskiy district.

To get here, you need to sit on the red branch of the metro and get to the station. "Chernigov" or to "Forest". The territory of the park stretched more than a kilometer just between these two stations. It is best to go to the "Forest" towards the homonymous street of Kyoto, turn left and go a few hundred meters past the shopping center.

Park "Kyoto" is located near the lively Brovarsky avenue, however, the noise of cars absolutely does not interfere with enjoying the local beauties.

How and when did the park appear?

A small "Japan" appeared in the heart of the Eastern European state in 1972. The reason for creating a recreational zone was the establishment of friendly diplomatic relations between Kiev and the Japanese city of Kyoto, as well as the signing of an appropriate document.

Park "Kyoto" in Kiev was created in traditional Japanese style by craftsmen from the Land of the Rising Sun. Here grow tall, slender pine trees, Japanese maples and, of course, cherry trees !

The masters tried to make the Kiev park as much like the traditional Japanese gardens. Here you can see a 5-meter pagoda - an exact reduced copy of the Kyoto monument. According to the foundations of Buddhism, the pagoda has a beneficial effect on the surrounding countryside. By the way, it was transferred to Kiev as a gift from Japan. Is in the park and its own "Fujiyama" - this is a small artificially planted hill with a miniature stone garden.

Park "Kyoto" - a peaceful corner of the Ukrainian capital, an excellent place to rest and restore peace of mind. There is a small pond with three charming bridges, as well as a waterfall shaded by trees. There are several objects in the park that ordinary Kievans will not say anything about, but for a real Japanese they are sacred. This, for example, is a guardian stone, or a moonlight stone.

Park "Kyoto" - in the "Guinness Book of Records"

In September 2011, the alcove of the Sakur was planted in the park. The event was timed to the 40th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between the Ukrainian capital and the Japanese city. It was attended by representatives of the delegation from Japan, including the Mayor of Kyoto. Sakura (or pink cherry), as is known, is a sacred plant for every inhabitant of this country, and admiration for its flowering is an integral part of Japanese culture.

The organizers of the event planned that the planted alley would become one of the longest in Europe. However, the result surpassed their expectations: the park of Kyoto was in the prestigious "Guinness Book of Records."

The world record was fixed a year later. Alley Sakur in Kiev was officially recognized as the longest on the planet! Representatives of the commission counted in it 360 seedlings of this beautiful plant.
