Sacred Burma - this is sometimes called the cat of this breed. And it is not accidental. In her homeland, in present-day Myanmar, these fluffy creatures have long lived under Buddhist monasteries. It was believed that the Burmese cat is the conductor of the souls of the dead monks in the afterlife. And the more people attained Perfection, the more golden the pet coat became. And those monks who could not rise to the Absolute, returned to their native abode in the image ... of the kittens of the breed. In Thailand, they claim that the Holy Burma was raised in their country by crossing the classic Siamese with long-haired orientals.
Eastern legends can be contrasted with documentary records of Europeans. In 1919, an American millionaire Vanderbilt brought to Nice from his journey through Indochina a cat that was born of the offspring of a new generation. The French say otherwise. They claim that Burmese cats appeared as a result of their breeding work. Its purpose was to bring out an animal similar in color and physique to the Siamese, but more fluffy. For this, Persian cats were connected to breeding work . How did this happen?
Breeders worked so as to completely remove the stop of the Persian. Also, the piercing and unpleasant voice of Siam was eliminated. As a result, the Burmese cat is the owner of only the best qualities of both breeds. It immediately gained popularity! The sacred Burma was inscribed in the French register in 1925 (first participated in the exhibition in 1926). In the United Kingdom and the United States, the breed was recognized in 1966 and 1967, respectively.
The Burmese cat has a very characteristic "Roman" nose. It is of medium length, proportional to the head, but the nostrils are at the bottom of the lobe. In the profile, you can see a slight bulge - the Roman hump. The head slightly resembles the profile of an Asian. The upper part of it is chamfered back, which gives the impression of Mongolian cheekbones. Ears of medium size, rounded and far apart. Jaws and chin are massive. Eyes - piercing blue, and the more intense the tone, the better. From other orientals, the sacred Burma is distinguished by its squat, stocky physique with large, strong paws.
The fur coat deserves special mention. Burmese cat - the photo allows you to see it - has a long silky coat. On the muzzle it is short. Therefore, the representatives of the breed do not have such problems with the eyes as their ancestors. Immediately on the cheeks, the wool lengthens, growing into a thick collar and even into a luxurious jabot. Further along the body, it flows with silky waves, slightly curly on the stomach. However - again, unlike the cover of the Persian cats - their fur does not tend to tangle and form coils. Color - typically Siamese, but Holy Burma is characterized by white boots and gloves. The tail looks like a light feather.
The Burmese cat combined the best qualities of two breeds in its character. He is very smart, but moderately active. Do not fall into hysterics, the voice has a harmonious, with a slight hoarse. The animal is very sociable, not afraid of strangers. But if the burma sees that you are busy, it will be able to become "invisible" for a while. Despite their long hair, caring for the representatives of this breed is not so burdensome.
