Ovarian apoplexy: causes, symptoms and methods of treatment

Apoplexy of the ovary to date is considered a rare disease, which is accompanied by a rupture or violation of the integrity of the ovary, resulting in hemorrhage into the abdominal cavity.

Apoplexy of the ovary: causes.

In fact, the reasons that lead to such a state have not yet been fully understood. It is believed that hemorrhage occurs when the structure of the vascular walls is disturbed, as well as the malfunctioning of the ovary itself.

As a rule, apoplexy is most often diagnosed in women with severe inflammatory or chronic diseases - it can be appendicitis, a serious infection of the pelvic organs, as well as the presence of a cyst or a tumor. In addition, hemorrhage can be the result of trauma as a result of a strong fall or stroke, violent sexual intercourse, a rise in excessive gravity. Occasionally, ovarian apoplexy develops as a result of a strong nervous shock.

It is also interesting that the hemorrhage into the right ovary happens much more often than in the left ovary. The fact is that the artery in the right appendage departs directly from the aorta and the blood pressure here is much higher.

Apoplexy of the ovary: symptoms.

The signs of such a disease directly depend on its form. Modern medicine distinguishes three basic forms of this state: light, medium and heavy.

The most obvious symptom is abdominal pain. Most often it is localized from the side of the affected ovary, but can sometimes give back, spine, groin and even a leg. In addition, the pain can be of a different nature, for example, be strong and sharp, or blunt and cramping. Quite often, this condition is preceded by watery discharge with blood, or by the release of brownish mucus.

Patient patients also complain of severe weakness, dizziness. The temperature, as a rule, remains normal, as well as the pulse and pressure. At an average severity of the condition, fainting or a slight pain shock is possible . The severe form of apoplexy is accompanied by shock and loss of consciousness caused by a huge loss of blood. At the same time the skin of a sick woman turns pale, cold sweat appears on it .

Apoplexy of the ovary: methods of diagnosis.

When you have pain, which is often the very first symptom, you need to make an appointment with a gynecologist. First and foremost, the doctor will take an interest in an accurate description of the symptoms, and will also conduct an examination that will help determine the cause of the pain.

In addition, other methods of research are used to diagnose this disease. For example, ultrasound can help detect ovarian tissue breaks, and see if there has been a bleeding in the abdominal cavity and how intense it is.

The function of the anus is also done in order to determine the presence of a hemorrhage, if for this, of course, there are indications. In addition, laparoscopy is sometimes performed.

Apoplexy of the ovary: treatment.

The choice of method of treatment depends on the condition of the sick woman, as well as on the form of the disease. With mild apoplexy, as a rule, the method of treatment with compresses, vaginal suppositories, warm syringing with decoctions of special medicinal herbs is conservative.

But in a more serious condition, a woman with apoplexy shows an operation. Surgical intervention is carried out very carefully. During the procedure, the ovary is sutured and the bleeding is stopped. Only with very severe trauma or extensive bleeding, the ovary is completely removed. In addition, surgeons clean the abdominal cavity of blood clots. The prognosis after such a procedure is favorable.

After the operation, a rehabilitation period follows, during which some methods of physiotherapy are used that allow a much faster recovery of the reproductive system.
