Our imagination. Properties and features

Each of us has a function in the brain, like imagination. The properties of this phenomenon were studied by professors and doctors of sciences in various fields, from philosophy to quantum physics. Each person uses this word in his vocabulary every day, jokingly or metaphorically speaking, pronouncing his variations and semantic declensions. We all perfectly know what imagination is. The properties of this process in their entirety are much more difficult to disclose.

For a more reliable adaptation to the real world, paradoxical as it may sound, every person should develop his imagination. It gives us the opportunity to predict various situations, to present the future result of the work, to anticipate certain events. Imagination is unlimited, it draws in our minds non-existent paintings, new people and unprecedented places. With its help, we adapt in the world, develop our creative abilities, foresee the outcome of relations. Proceeding from this, it is worth noting that, especially for the creative person, the most important aspect in his activity is precisely imagination.

The properties of this process, which are manifested in everyday life, can be briefly listed:

  • In an uncertain situation, the imagination forms a model of our further behavior, our actions.
  • Reproduces, as a "film in our head", events and scenes, which in reality there. This can be manifested in the form of images associated with a read book, impressions from the story of another person, in the form of a premonition of the situation of the place you are going to, but have not been there before.
  • Imagination draws us the goal to which we aspire. It can be a desired apartment, a relationship with a good person.
  • And in the end - a similar process allows us to build a whole world within ourselves, which in many ways does not correspond to reality.

Now let's try to figure out where the imagination comes from. The properties of this process consist in transforming everything that our brain perceives into something new. Simply put, all of our "worlds" and pictures of the future that are built in my head are nothing but the result of our reminiscences remade by ourselves. People whose abstract thinking is not well developed, most often draw imaginary events, based on the most appropriate situation or subject from the past. A person who has the capacity for inner prostration, borrows images from the various events that he saw earlier, and juxtaposes them into a new picture.

In order to more specifically understand all this, we offer to review the properties of the imagination in psychology, as well as their standard names:

  • Typification - the display in the brain of a new image, which is typical for a specific situation.
  • An analogy is the creation of images and details that have much in common with those already existing.
  • Accent is a fixation on details that are present in an imaginary world.
  • Agglutination is the most complex function of the imagination. It allows you to change physical properties in an unreal world, connect incongruous objects and people, build unreal places and relationships.

The types and properties of the imagination are strictly dependent on a particular person, and in order to fully understand all these features, it is worth diving into psychology, neurophysiology and even physics.
