Orekhovskiy waterfalls and other waterfalls of Sochi

For some, rest in Sochi is spacious beaches, entertainment, restaurants. Others try to visit the sights of the city and its environs. Here are the most beautiful waterfalls of the Krasnodar Territory. Due to their availability they are very popular with tourists, especially in the warm season.

Orekhovsky Falls: general information

It is one of the most powerful and highest on the Black Sea coast. The waterfall is of karst origin. Among limestone, which is about 70 million years old, it was washed with water streams in vertical layers.

It is located in the Sochi national park and is a natural monument of the Krasnodar Territory.

Often mistakenly it is called in the plural - Orekhovskie waterfalls, but in fact it is one, simply formed of two cascades.

Description

It is located only 14 km from the center of Sochi on the outskirts of the village called Plastunka. Near the village of Orekhovka, which gave the name of the waterfall in 1917. Earlier it was called Mill, because there was a water mill.

In the deep valley among steep walls the Sochi river flows. Its right side forms the mouth of Bezumenka, which, reaching a steep cliff, breaks down cascade, forming the Orekhovskiy waterfalls. The height is 27.5 m.

Two jets of falling water are gradually combined into one. With noise, it descends into a two-stage boiler, after which it quietly connects with the waters of the Sochi River.

A beautiful waterfall at any time of the year - it does not freeze in winter and does not dry out even in the heat. On steep slopes on both sides are thickets of wood from oak and chestnut with admixture of boxwood, near is a grove of walnut and pebble beach. In June, you can find a flourishing rhododendron Pontic.

Orekhovskiye Falls: how to get there?

The route of travel to the monument of nature is usually the first in the tourists who came to the city of Sochi. It is found in all excursion programs, however it is easy to find it yourself.

You can get here either by car or by public transport. From the railway station you need to get on the 102 bus to the final stop "Orehovka". Next, you have to walk 1.5 km (about 30 minutes) up the road and at the first fork, turn right, follow the signs for the waterfalls.

By car, the road will take less time. It is necessary to follow the route: Plastunskaya - Krasnodaraya - Dzhaparidze streets. At the stop "Orekhovka" you can continue your journey by car or leave it here, then you can also walk on foot. The road here is asphalted, but there are gravel areas, so it is better to choose comfortable shoes.

A walking tour will not seem tiring, as the nature of Sochi is very picturesque. The country road first passes along the slope of Mount Kuma, then turns into a forest. Along the way, the Bezumenka River meets, if you turn off a little, you can see a "cascade of waterfalls", they are small, but very beautiful. Continuing the journey, in just a few minutes you can reach the goal of the route.

For the entrance to the Orekhovskiye waterfalls take a small fee. There is a cafe nearby where you can have a snack.

Agur Waterfalls

In the resort city there are also other places that cause the interest of tourists. The same popular as the Orekhovskiye waterfalls, are the Agur. There are three in total. They are on the river Agura. The first waterfall is the most famous, it consists of two cascades. Their height is 18 m and 12 m, respectively.

In just 500 m there is the second Agur waterfall. It is multi-jet, water drops from a height of 23 m. On the left side of it you can see shallow caves, which are also interesting for tourists.

The third waterfall is very near. It falls down a strong stream, the foot is made up of thresholds, the water overflows from one to the other.

Waterfalls in Sochi always attract the attention of many tourists. In the warm season there are always vacationers.

The most beautiful waterfalls in Sochi

They are located mainly on mountain rivers and springs. Another natural monument is 33 waterfalls on the Djegosh stream. The height of the highest is 10.5 m, the small one - 1.3 m. There are 33 waterfalls, 13 rapids and 7 gushers. The length from the first to the last is 500 m.

At a distance of 6 km from Krasnaya Polyana, on the right bank of the Bzyb River, there is another no less beautiful waterfall "Girl's Tears". It is formed by melt water from alpine meadows, filtered in the layers of calcareous rocks. Its height is 13 m. It is believed that if an unmarried girl is washed here, then in the same year she will be married.

The highest waterfall in Sochi is Polycarp. It is located on the ridge of Aibga near the village of Krasnaya Polyana. Its height is 70 m. Here even in the middle of the summer there is snow.

To get to it is quite easy, by car (preferably on an off-road vehicle) the road will take only half an hour. From its top you can see the spurs of the Main Caucasian Range.
