If the washing machine suddenly stopped while running, and there is water in it, then it can be assumed that the pump (drain pump) has failed. For the machine this is a standard breakdown, which arises depending on the life of the unit and the frequency of use of the entire device.

The average pump service time is from 3 to 7 years. It happens that the pumps can break down and a couple of months after the purchase of the washing machine. The reason for this can be inattention, because of which foreign objects enter the drum together with clothes or linens. There is a small gap between the sealing cuff of the hatch door and the drum, through which unnecessary products can get into the tank cavity, and then into the pump.

After a while they block the impeller and disable the pumps for washing machines. Sometimes, due to a short circuit of the winding, the electronic control module can simultaneously burn, which makes repairs very expensive. However, it is usually enough to simply replace the pump with the impeller, and your machine will be ready for further operation.

The pump for the washing machine has two main components: a motor with an impeller and a snail with a filter. The last element is a plastic branch pipe with two outlets. It has, on the one hand, a seat for the engine, and on the other hand a recess for the filter cover. In normal use, the snail practically does not wear out. More often replace the motor with an impeller.

Older models use a pump for a washing machine with two impellers. One of them cools the engine, the other is designed for water circulation. A feature of the old devices is the presence of an oil seal, which prevents the flow of water into the motor from the cochlea.

A modern pump for a washing machine (Bosch, Samsung, etc.) has only one impeller, which performs the basic function. Seals in new devices are missing, since the electrical part of the pump is separated constructively from the mechanical one.

In automatic machines, more than 50 types of devices for pumping and draining water are used. However, they are all subdivided according to the way the engine is attached to the cochlea in several ways. Some pumps are held on three screws, although they have five holes for fastening (for example, Samsung washing machines, in which the cover is additionally attached).

In addition to the fixing method, the washing machine pump for various models may have different terminal locations that are in the front and rear parts of the device, are present together in a common connector or separately. Many devices can replace each other. When installing the pump in a washing machine, the main task is to select the motor for the seat. It is possible to mount pumps with different terminal locations. However, it is important to ensure the reliability of the electrical contact.
