Ordinary beetle

Many gardeners, who consider their land to be only a source of food, forget that the garden still has to please the look. The possibilities of its decoration are many. For example, a hedge. Recently, the idea of fence-hedge more often finds supporters. In fact, it is much more pleasant to see not a monotonous, albeit expensive, fence, and a green wall. There are many arguments in favor of hedges - this is protection from outside views and unwanted visits, this is a reduction of noise from the street and a veil of dust, and sometimes with it you can hide some buildings.

The choice of planting plants is quite rich. Of the many shrubs used for hedges, a notable place is occupied by the common hunt. The etymology of the word "ambulance" is ambiguous, in our everyday life the culture is more known as the "wolf berry". This name was probably given to the plant because of the poisonous fruit. Another version speaks of the similarity of berries with the eyes of a wolf before an attack. On the other hand, the Latin name denotes a plant with an astringent bark. In our climate, culture is valued for its unpretentiousness and unique beauty.

Biryuchin's genus includes more than fifty species. This is an evergreen and deciduous plant with oblong leathery leaves. In the wild, it is represented by a shrub with a height of two to four meters. Blossoms usually from May to June after full opening of the leaves. Fruits - berries usually black and blue with purple flesh, unfortunately, are poisonous. Ripening at the end of summer, the fruits stay on the branches for a long time, being a good decorative element.

Ordinary is fairly resistant to frost - can withstand a decrease in air temperature to -30 degrees. It is unpretentious to the composition of the soil, so it grows well in the cities. The hedge of ordinary hawthorn is well shaped and can be easily cut. The plant can serve as a stock for other shrubs.

In addition to the ordinary hawthorn there are other species, for example, the barrel is shiny. Both species are quite similar, and laymen can easily confuse them. Differ by the fact that the gazebo shiny is more demanding for living conditions and less frost-resistant. Birucina brilliant due to its more gentle nature is good for southern regions. Both types are well suited for haircuts and are used for planting on alleys and streets.

Practically all kinds of privet, including Japanese privet, are well tolerated by a haircut, have rather thick branches and a long life. These qualities have created the plant the glory of the beautiful material for the hedgerows. Its strong shoots, similar to wicker rods, were once used to make baskets. Perhaps this property also served as the basis for the Latin name of the plant.

Ordinary has a pronounced white or yellow inflorescence with a strong odor. In addition, some varieties, for example, "Aureum" have variegated leaves, which in itself looks rather decorative. All species that grow in the middle belt are very undemanding to the habitat and can grow on both dry and wet soils. Gardeners-decorators consider an animal as a pioneer for undeveloped soils.

However, for all the stability, the evergreen evergreen is susceptible to pest attack. The shoots can be attacked by the worms, and on the leaves - the caterpillars of some butterflies and ash-trees. On the leaves may appear oidium. The fight against pests and diseases can be conducted as for ordinary ornamental shrubs.

Propagated by an ordinary beetle cuttings. In order to have branched shrubs, it is necessary to prune shoots every spring. When transplanting, do not forget about good watering - when the earth's coma dries up, leaves may fall off. Young plants need an annual transplant, for adults this procedure can be performed less often.
