Life of Luka Crimean

Throughout his earthly journey, St. Luke went to the service of the Lord, despite the fact that his years of life fell on hard times, when the persecution of the Church was particularly cruel, the dictatorship of the Soviets reigned in the country. In the story, Valentin Voino-Yasnetsky entered as a man with a strong will, unshakable faith, always seeking to help his neighbor. In this personality intertwined, combined wonderfully rebellious spirit and obedience, religion and science, iron will and kind character. Archbishop of Crimea will forever remain in history not only as a holy Luke, a priest, but also as a great scientist, an ingenious doctor. Now the relics of St. Luke in Minsk, Moscow, Simferopol or in any other city attract thousands of pilgrims, and yet this saint was once the usual Zemsky doctor.

The beginning of the life path

In the city of Kerch in the distant 1877 in a Polish family a boy was born, he was given the name Valentin. Since childhood, the child has shown an interest in art. Most of all Valentine was attracted to painting, he dreamed that he would one day study at the Art Academy. But at some point, before the entrance exams, as if enlightenment descended upon him, Valentin realized that his destiny was serving people. Without any work, the young man entered the University of Kiev at the Medical Faculty, which he graduated with honors in 1903. As a young specialist, Valentin Feliksovich is sent to Chita. Career of the future professor began in the local city hospital. Here Valentine met his future wife, a young family was formed. Later, their marriage was enriched by four children. With the whole family, a young promising doctor traveled from city to city and eventually ended up in the Rostov region.

Becoming a Medical Career

Valentin Feliksovich worked in different hospitals, performed many operations. Experience has taught him that in many cases, the use of local anesthesia is more acceptable than general anesthesia. So, he started research. The glory of the wonderful surgeon began to spread around the area at lightning speed. Professionalism, great diligence positively influenced his career growth. Soon Valentin became the chief physician of the hospital in Pereyaslavl-Zalessky. In 1916, the researcher successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on local anesthesia. Immediately the scientist started a new work on purulent surgery, which is still one of the most significant in medicine.

Fatal year 1917

At the time of the bloody revolutionary procession, Valentin Voino-Yasenetsky was appointed chief physician in Tashkent. The move adversely affected the health of the spouse, contracting tuberculosis, she soon passed away. The young doctor was left alone with four children. His operating sister took care of raising children. Thanks to the kindness of this woman, Voino-Yasenetsky had the opportunity to write scientific works and treat people.

Spiritual life

Throughout his activity Valentin Feliksovich actively denied the scientific atheism, participated in discussions on this matter. Once Bishop Innokenty, after another similar meeting, told Valentine that he should become a priest. Without thinking twice, he accepted the offer, immediately on Sunday Valentin Feliksovich was elevated to the rank of deacon, and later to the priest. So a new stage in life began. Since that time, Valentin began to work simultaneously and as a university professor (taught surgery), both as a clergyman and as a doctor.

In 1923, Valentine, with the blessing of Bishop Andrew of Yefimsky, entered the episcopate, a little later found the name of Luke.

In the autumn of 2014, the relics of St. Luke in Minsk were gathered by many believers, each trying to work hard to receive healing from the saint. Despite all the hard trials that fell to Luke, he always zealously served the people.

During the years of political repression, St. Luke was brutally persecuted. Repeatedly he was imprisoned and exiled. Everywhere he continued his healing activity and saved people. More than once St. Luke was offered to abdicate in exchange for permission to conduct medical research, but the saint gave a decisive refusal. 1937 also became very difficult. The priest fell under the wave of repression.

In 1940, in Krasnoyarsk, the healer, without thinking of himself without practice, nevertheless achieved permission to work as a doctor. During the war he was appointed responsible for all military local hospitals.

In 1944, Valentin Feliksovich was transferred to Tambov, so he was able to complete some of his scientific works.

Only in 1946 the saint moved to the Crimea. Here he found the post of archbishop of Simferopol. Weak health was no longer allowed to practice in surgery, but he was always happy to advise local doctors.

The life of the saint ended in 1961 on June 11, the day was issued for the feast of All Saints. This became a prophecy. The body of St. Luke was buried near the Church of All Saints in Simferopol.

Wherever the holy relics of Luke are, there are always thousands of pilgrims who believe in the miracle of healing. Only in 1996, with great honors, the saint's relics were redirected to the Holy Trinity Cathedral. There they are to this day. Very often the ark travels around the world, this is an opportunity for all Christians to put their finger on the shrine.
