Upgrade failed to Windows 10: upgrade error. Causes and methods of elimination.

When installing the tenth and most meaningful version of Windows, you can often encounter disruptions. When upgrading to Windows 10, the error may appear for absolutely different reasons. Consider what they are and how to eliminate the consequences of the impossibility of an upgrade.

When you upgrade to Windows 10, the error is permanently displayed: possible causes

The very first thing you should pay attention to when switching to Windows 10 is the system configuration and compliance with at least the minimum requirements of the new OS.

They are rather moderate. For normal operation, it requires only a 2-core processor and 2 GB of RAM, not counting 30 GB of free disk space. If an error is associated with such characteristics when upgrading to Windows 10, the system will not be installed even when the corresponding utility is started.

The second problem is that for installing the "dozens" in the transition from Windows 7 or 8, absolutely all available update packages should be installed in them. If the installation was not performed automatically, you should enter the "Update Center" and specify the search for available updates in the manual mode.

What is the main problem?

Upgrading the "seven" is done in a running system, and not as a "clean" installation. This causes a lot of problems, because of which the error of updating Windows 7 to Windows 10 arises.

For example, the same activated antivirus scanner can easily "spit" towards the 10th distribution. Therefore, at the stage of installation (transition to a new OS) it is recommended not only to disable the anti-virus software, but also to remove it altogether (not the fact that in Windows 10 the old scanner will work fine). But this is not the main thing.

Problems with error group c1900101

Let's take a look at the most common failure of Windows 10 (error code when updating c1900101). In fact, this is not a single error, but a whole group of failures, combining errors with the numbers 20017, 30018, 40017, and others. All of them testify to the impossibility of installing a new system on top of the old one. But if the screen suddenly appears code c1900101 (error updating Windows 10), how to fix the situation - it becomes clear if you initially use the utility Media Creation Tool. True, not everyone knows that when you start it is desirable to turn off the Internet. In general, it's better not to start the update process, but create a removable media, then install the system directly from it. Another cardinal method of troubleshooting is to delete the $ Windows folder. ~ BT and the contents of the Download directory in the created Software / Distribution sections or directly on the system disk.

Windows Update Failures

If, when upgrading to Windows 10, the error is caused by the center itself, which immediately installs updates for the new system, do not panic.

Search for updates can be set manually, and if desired - and completely disable the entire system. By the way, updates in Windows 10 mostly concern only the security system for Microsoft products and do not provide any cardinal changes in the system itself, apart from the last Anniversary package, which is now available in the post-Soviet space only when the special plug-in installer is downloaded from the official site. When searching for an update in the manual mode, the system does not find it. But errors "Windows Update Center" in some situations are eliminated by manual intervention.

In some cases, you can observe a virus attack, when the system file itself, responsible for launching the update search, may be corrupted. It is better to use portable or disk system checking utilities like Rescue Disk to avoid the possibility of reinstalling the whole system with formatting partitions and deleting user information.

They work on the principle of downloading before the start of the OS, have their own graphical interface and can find even those viruses or threats that are not determined by standard scanners.

Troubleshooting unsigned driver problems

Finally, there is one more problem with the installed drivers, which in the old system did not have a digital signature or a confirmation certificate.

Without going into technical details, when you upgrade to Windows 10, this type of error is fixed in the following way.

First we enter the command console "Run" (Win + R), where we assign the string verifier. In the window of the appeared manager select the option of creating standard parameters (the first line from the top), and then confirm the automatic selection of unsigned drivers. Further, it remains only to install the appropriate drivers when accessing the official developer resource.

Technical Preview or "clean" installation?

Finally, it should be noted that when upgrading to Windows 10, the error may be in the installation method. If there is an initial possibility, it is better to immediately make a "clean" installation from scratch. If there is no such option or a suitable distribution kit at hand, you can use the same Media Creation Tool, install the initial version of the Technical Preview, and then, without delay, use the capabilities of the system for using a "clean" installation. This way you can avoid a lot of problems in the future, especially since the "thumbnail" was so raw and unfinished that many users are very skeptical about installing it. And for this, I must say, there are good reasons.

But to date, for the "tens" in free distribution, you can find several basic versions, including professional, and educational, and home. By the way, those who switched to Windows 10 immediately after its release in July-August 2015, were more fortunate. Upgrading to Pro was done automatically and for free. And this system of censures in work does not cause absolutely any (it works like a clock). Well, in the configuration will have to dig. But the appearance of possible errors in the system update is minimized here.
