"Ong Bak": actor Tony J

In this article, we'll talk about the famous actor, screenwriter, stuntman and Thai boxing master Tony Jah. His business card was the sensational thriller "Ong Bak", in which the child prodigy from Thailand performed the main role.

The beginning of an actor's career

Pan Jiram, better known all over the world under the pseudonym Tony Jha, was born in 1976 in Thailand in a place called Surin. Since childhood, the young man gravitated toward engaging in oriental martial arts and acrobatics. For the first time on the screen, he appeared in the famous fantasy thriller "The Deadly Battle-2" - there he was a backup of Robin Shaw. In 2003, Tony Jah became famous throughout the world for playing in the superbike "Ong Bak": the actor in the title role played the character of Thiang. In the film, Dzha, without insurance and special adaptations, performed the most complicated acrobatic numbers and demonstrated the exquisite technique of the ancient martial art muay thai.

The summary of the film

The plot unfolds in a small Thai village called Nong Pradu. Simple people live here and young warriors learn Thai boxing. Troubles begin with the fact that drug gangsters kidnap Ong Bak's head - the statue of Buddha, the main shrine of the village. Residents of the settlement embraces indescribable grief, and they all agree on the idea that the head must be returned, otherwise the village is in for great misfortunes. A young soldier, Tiang, dares to go to search.

"Ong Bak": the main actor and character of his hero

The character of the central character of Thiang is quite ordinary: it is a simple but just rural guy with the heart of a great warrior, ready to sacrifice everything, including his life, to bring the shrine back to the village. From a young age, he studied the art of Thai boxing from his teacher. After completing the training, only one instruction was given from him by Tiang: "... forget everything I taught you, and never apply it in life ...".

This oath initially captures the young man in action, as he has no right to enter into a duel. In street brawl, he does not use deadly blows, but only throws rivals to the ground without causing them significant damage. Even when a gang of villains attacks him all in a hurry, he does not fight them, but runs away, showing incredible and dangerous acrobatic numbers along the way without stunt doublers. Another undeniable advantage of the movie "Ong Bak": the actor, in addition to various types of salta, performs jumps from parkour.

But in the future, the containment of the warrior's instinct becomes impossible. The main bandit, whose henchman kidnapped the shrine from the village of Tiang, bets on his fighter against the young master, when he finds himself in a den where clandestine battles are held without rules. Thiang was forced to get here, since the kidnapper of the Buddha's head hung around somewhere. Hero Tony Jah refuses to enter the ring: he just wanders around the room in search of a thief. Then the European fighter begins provoking Tiang, beating a Thai boy and girl. Set before choice-either to keep the oath given to the teacher, or to neglect his promise and stand up for the innocence, Tiang chooses the second.

At this moment, the main fights in the movie begin, in which Jha shows the mind-blowing acrobatic elements and the exquisite technique of owning muay thai. In the staging battles it is noticeable how much the fighting accent is placed on the knees and elbows - a visiting card of Thai boxing and the film "Ong Bak." The actor also often performs beautiful kicks, performed in the best traditions of the "Deadly Battle-2".

The influence of Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee

On the dangerous tricks performed in the film "Ong Buck", the actor was inspired by watching a lot of films with the participation of two legends of militants: Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. As you know, these masters of kung fu and acrobatics performed all the tricks in their films on their own, which looked just great on the screen. Thus, the preparation for the film "Ong Bak" took from Tony Jah about three years. Unlike his idols, Jah planned to use the techniques of Thailand's native martial arts in fights to promote to the masses this martial arts and Thai culture in general.

"Ong Bak": actors and supporting roles

In the film, it is worth noting the game of Petchtai Wongkamlao, who played the role of Hamlet. Hamle is the son of one of the villagers who moved to a big city to earn illegal money. Together with podelnitsey he participates in gambling and cheating wins the savings of his opponents. It's no wonder that small tricks are often revealed, and Hamle is constantly harassed by the troubles and thugs with whom he owes.

Suhao Pongwilai played the main villain in Ong Bak. The actor plays the role of an invalid who is paralyzed below the belt, having problems with the vocal cords, because of what he is forced to use a special apparatus so that others can hear his speech. He is a selfish and self-conceited salesman of the stolen shrines of Buddhist monasteries. In addition to this dirty business, he trades in stakes for clandestine fights, where his fighters, two of whom were played by Eric Marcus Schütz and Don Ferguson, carry the rivals to pieces, giving their boss fabulous money. It is these two pitbulls at certain moments of the film that meet with the hero Tony Jah, where he does not leave any chance for the villains to win.
