North-east chord: the highway in Moscow

The new North-East chord will pass from the October Railway (western) and provide access to the capital of the toll highway "Moscow - St. Petersburg". The plan for the construction of new Moscow roads was approved in 2012. At the same time, the projects of both chords, both western and eastern, were agreed upon. At the same time, among other events, the reconstruction of the intersection of Leningradsky Prospect and ul. Trade union with the Moscow Ring Road.

Main line location

On the periphery, the North-Eastern chord should connect the northern and south-eastern parts of the capital, that is, the areas most populated. In the east in one part it will go along the Moscow Ring Road. This road will be connected with such major highways as Schelkovskoye, Altufevskoe, Izmaylovskoye and Otkrytne. From Businovskaya interchange to the ring road, motorists will travel in two directions - to the north-west and north-east. In this case, the Moscow ring road in the south will have to be expanded if the authorities decide to stretch both chords to it. It is also possible that these highways will be linked by the South Rokada. This was announced in 2012 by Deputy Marat Khusnullin for urban planning.

The North-Eastern chord, firstly, will connect the capital with the western bypass of Odintsovo, and secondly, it will descend to the east to the Veshnyaki-Lyubertsy junction. After this, it is planned to build a highway, along which it will be possible to drive to Noginsk.

The project of the section of the chord from the sh. Enthusiasts up to MKAD

The peculiarity of the North-East chord project is that it is developed in parts. In 2012, the projects of sites were approved - from the Businovskaya junction to the street. Festival and overpass at the intersection of ul. Taldomsky with Oktyabrskaya railway. In 2013, the following competitions were announced:

1. On the stretch from w. Enthusiasts up to the ring road.
2. On the stretch from w. Izmailovsky to sh. Shchelkovsky.

In the first case, such events as:

1. Construction of the junction in the intersection of the chord with the street. Kuskovskaya.
2. Erection of the flyover at the intersection with the street. Youth.
3. Construction of a pedestrian crossing in the place where the North-Eastern chord approaches the MKAD.
4. Reorganization of the railway lines of the Kazan and Gorky directions.
5. The connection between the chord and the Veshnyaki-Lyubertsy junction in the vicinity of the "Shosse Entuziastov" station on the 8th kilometer of the Moscow Ring Road.

The plan also provided for the construction of pedestrian crossings in the following areas:

1. Between the streets of Vostrukhin and Red Kazan.
2. Between the first Kazan glade and the alleyway of the First May Day.
3. The platform and exits (southern and northern) of the metro station "Vykhino".
4. Between the Kuskovsky Prosecco and the street of Mayvok.
5. Between Karacharovskoye highway and Kuskovskaya.

The length of this section was more than 8.5 km.

Project Schelkovskoe - Izmaylovskoe highway

The project included such events as the construction of congresses:

1. On the Schelkovskoe highway towards the center.
2. Across Tkatskaya Street to Okruzhnoy Proyezd.
3. On the Okruzhnaya driveway in the direction of sh. Enthusiasts.
4. From Schelkovskoye highway towards the open highway along the chord.

And also races:

• Towards the open highway from the street. Soviet;
• On Schelkovskoe highway from the street. Soviet in the direction of the region;
• From the 1st lane of the Izmaylovo Zoo.

This section of the North-East chord is equipped with three overpasses. It is planned to build a tunnel for two lanes, two above-ground and eight underground junctions.

The triangle will replace the fourth transport ring

As already mentioned, it is possible that two new highways North-East and North-West will be connected by South Rokada. The latter will begin on the Rublevskoe highway, go to New Riga, and then to Aminevskoe highway. However, other projects are under development. In the event that the chords are stretched to the MKAD, instead of the CTK, a triangle will be obtained. The decision in this case will depend on which project is cheaper. The shortage of cross-roads is what has recently been manifested in such a big metropolis as Moscow. For this reason, the North-East chord will be stretched across the city.

Passage along two flyovers of the congress, and also along the railway overpass through the sh. Enthusiasts opened in 2012. In addition to all other things, a section of the main road was built, with a length of almost 2 km. In total, the project covers about 25 km of the roadway. Section CGT between sh. Enthusiasts and Izmailovsky should be put into operation in 2015.

Approximate cost of the project

It is assumed that the construction of the Northeast Chord will cost the Moscow authorities 70 billion rubles. Khusnullin in August last year reported that the costs could be no more than 30-35 billion rubles. The authorities had to find the best balance between the cost and throughput of the future highway. In the event that a large number of various kinds of artificial objects will be built, the route will become more rapid, but also more expensive.

Competition: a section from the Shchelkovsky highway to the Open

At the beginning of this year, two overpasses were opened on the interval from the highway Enthusiasts to Izmailovsky. The tender for the construction of the next site was announced in December 2013. Its results were summed up in early March this year. It is planned to build at least a three-four-lane highway in only one direction. The road will pass along the MK MZD from Schelkovskoye Highway to ul. Losinoostrovskaya. The length of the site is 3.2 km. This is approximately 10% of the total chord length. According to the project, the following activities will be carried out at this site:

• The construction of a traffic junction in the area of cutting off the chord with the Open Highway;
• Construction of two congresses on the open highway from the outside of the highway;
• The device of passage under the Mytishchi overpass with possibility of a turn.

In order for motorists to have the opportunity to go from Shchelkovo Highway to the chord towards the center, an overpass will be built. In the future, it is planned to build another one. A right-wing Congress will be organized on Losinoostrovskaya Street.

After the completion of the construction of the North-East chord, the scheme of which is presented just above, will connect many important areas of the city. In 2014, 90 billion rubles were allocated for road construction in the capital. At the same time, it is planned to put into operation 76.6 km of newly constructed and reconstructed roads.
