Nettle. Burn and its treatment

Nettle is a flowering plant, the stems and leaves of which are densely covered with rather burning hairs. There are forty-five different species that represent this genus, which are usually tempered by a temperate climate. Often at The estate or in the forest as a minor trouble we are trapped by nettles. The burn from her leaves is familiar to almost every one of us. It is accompanied by a rather unpleasant sensation, which also provokes severe allergic attacks in some cases.

Nettle, whose burn can be very painful, with the help of burning hairs protects itself from herbivores. This ability is possessed by most species of this plant. Each of the hairs in its structure resembles a large cage, similar to a medical ampoule. Its protruding tip contains silicon salts. When in contact with the plant, the sharp part of the "ampoule" breaks off. The tip penetrates the upper layers of the skin, and the contents of the cell enter the human or animal body. The nettle juice contained in the "ampoule" contains formic acid, choline and histamine. The effects of these substances on the skin and causes a sharp burn.

How dangerous is this? As a rule, the nettle leaves a burn, which is considered almost harmless. But at the same time, some plant species can cause very painful sensations. Sometimes burns can cause death. Such plant species, as a rule, live in tropical forests.

If there is a nettle burn, treatment is done by yourself. First of all, the area of contact with the plant should be cooled. This will relieve the pain. For this, ice can be applied to the hearth of the burn or it can be doused with cold water. In the event that relief does not come, it is recommended to use the ointment "Menovazine" or a solution of apple cider vinegar. By these means, the place where the nettle burned was treated. Unpleasant sensations can be eliminated with boric, camphor or salicylic alcohol solution. The source of burnt nettles can also be treated with anti-inflammatory ointments with simultaneous administration of antihistamines "Diazolin", "Fenkarol", "Suprastin" or "Tavegil". These actions will exclude the occurrence of an allergic reaction of the body.

In case of strong contact with the plant, the nettle burn (the photo of which you see above) may be accompanied by the appearance of blisters. To eliminate them, you need to make a lotion from a 100% solution of boric acid. To the affected skin, you can apply a moist gruel from the leaves of sorrel.

An unpleasant burning sensation from contact with the nettle is removed with the juice of an ordinary eagle. Burns and paste, cooked from ordinary baking soda and water, are eliminated. This tool is always available and efficient enough. Blisters from burns of aggressive nettle will disappear, and the pain will subside when a thin layer of ordinary clay is applied to the contact zone.
