Mountain ash. Description and application in folk medicine

A tree with blood-red berries has been sung many times in poetry, endowed with delightful epithets - these are "rowan beads", and "rowan red bunches", and "slender mountain ash", etc. Where this plant is not mentioned: in songs, Films, sentimental poems, in which a flexible tree has an allegorical meaning with a woman's destiny: "... mountain ash is a bitter destiny ...". "A branch of a mountain ash - a bright red color ..." inspired inspiration far from one poet.

Rowan grass is grown as a tree and as a shrub. Its pinnately-dissected leaves, pubescent on the back, number 11-19 leaves each, along the edge with pointed denticles. White flowers of mountain ash are collected in umbel-like powerful inflorescences, which begin to bloom in April-May. In addition to fruits in folk medicine occasionally apply bark, kidneys and leaves of the plant. Most often, the fruits of the plant "ashberry ordinary" cut with brushes, clean them immediately before drying. Dried berries in the oven retain their healing properties for two years. Prepare rinsed and dried berries and, passing them through a meat grinder along with sugar, keep the resulting paste in a cool place. Also squeeze out the juice from the twisted fruits and freeze it in polyethylene dense packages.

Orange-red juicy, berry-like fruits of this plant have a round-oval or spherical shape and have different tastes. Some can not be used before freezing because of their bitter-tart taste, but there are also sweet without frost. These varieties of mountain ash are rich in microelements (copper, molybdenum, bromine, iodine, calcium, zinc, manganese, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium), vitamins C, PP, B2, B, provitamin A. Rowan red is used as protivodisenteria, hemostatic, contraceptive , A laxative, diuretic.

Rowan pomegranate is a hybrid variety obtained by I. Michurin's selection method , as a result of crossing hawthorn and mountain ash. In height it reaches three to four meters, the life span is short. The tree has a spreading, broad crown with a low margin, very decorative, the leaves are shiny dark green in color, fall into purple-yellow and fall very early. Large, fragrant inflorescences of white color appear in early May. Granite edible fruits of pomegranate have a sweet taste, have a bright cherry color, ripen in the very beginning of autumn. Rowan fruits in abundance contain vitamins and nutrients, each tree produces from 15 to 20 kg of berries. It is used as a garden and decorative tree decorating personal plots, pomegranate planted in the aisles between houses and along fences. It is ideally looked in a combination to such decorative bushes as a viburnum, a magnolia, a barberry, and also with coniferous trees.
