Metizred. Instructions

Metipred is a hormonal drug and is part of the group of glucocorticosteroids. The medication is used in the therapy of habitual miscarriage, infertility, to correct the content of 17-OH-progesterone (an adrenal hormone), an elevated level of which can both contribute to miscarriage and hinder conception.

The drug is prescribed for systemic, skin, allergic diseases. They include: Stevens-Johnson syndrome, bullous derramitis (herpetiform), pemphigus, psoriasis, exfoliative, seborrheic dermatitis, mycoses. The instruction manual allows to use the instruction for localized hypertrophic lesions and infiltrates, discoid lupus erythematosus, chronic neurodermatitis, lipoid diabetic necrobiosis.

The medication is also used as an additional therapy for exacerbations or against a background of acute rheumatic diseases: rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis.

Metipred is prescribed for allergic diseases. These include seasonal or permanent rhinitis, bronchial asthma, reactions to medicines, hives, atopic and contact dermatitis, anaphylactic and anaphylactic reactions.

The drug is not prescribed for latent or active tuberculosis, systemic fungal diseases, AIDS, viral or bacterial pathologies of chronic and acute course, intestinal anastomosis, hypertension, and stable heart failure. Contraindicated medication and with hypersensitivity, severe violations of kidney or liver, gastritis, esophagitis, hypothyroidism, severe osteoporosis, diabetes mellitus, latent or acute peptic ulcer, poliomyelitis (with the exception of bulbar-encephalic forms). The drug is also not prescribed for mental disorders, glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, severe osteoporosis, lactation, lymphoma after BCG. Contraindicated premature infants.

Adverse manifestations when taking Metipred are instructions for dizziness, atrophy of the cortex in the adrenal glands, Itenko-Cushing syndrome, menstrual cycle disorders, steroid diabetes, stunted growth in children, impotence, hirsutism, increased body mass, decreased tolerance to carbohydrates. Possible lowering of muscle mass, mental disorders, seizures, hypotension, steroid acne, candidiasis, bronchospasm, anaphylactic shock, urticaria, hyper and hypopigmentation, increased intraocular pressure and other undesirable manifestations.

An overdose of the drug manifests itself in the form of edema, the appearance in the urine of protein, hypertension, arrhythmia, cardiopathy, hypokalemia, a decrease in the volume of filtration. As a therapy of the condition, forced diuresis, antacids, potassium chloride are used. At psychoses and depressions lower the dosage or cancel the remedy. At the same time, lithium salts or phenothiazine preparations are prescribed.

The drug is administered orally after meals in the morning, in the form of injections (intramuscularly, intravenously, into the vagina and synovial bags, to skin lesions, articular cavities), and rectally.

In divided doses or once, the medication is indicated to adults in an amount of four to sixty milligrams per day. The initial dosage is from 12 to 40 mg, in some cases up to 100 mg per day. The maintenance dose is 4-12 mg / day. The maximum amount of the drug per day is 250 mg.

With insufficiency of the adrenal glands, children are prescribed 0.14 mg / kg orally three times a day.

Dosage, depending on the disease, is selected by a specialist individually.

Metipred and pregnancy

In some cases, the drug in small doses is applied throughout the period of gestation. At the same time, medical control over the condition of the fetus and the mother is mandatory.
