The drug "Terbinafine" (ointment): instruction

The drug "Terbinafine" is produced in the form of tablets or ointments and is intended for the treatment of various fungal diseases. The drug "Terbinafine" (ointment) contains 1% of the same substance and is released in tubes of 10 and 15 grams.

The pharmacological effect of this medication on the use of this medication is described as follows. It is active against dermatophytes, yeast fungi, Pityrosporum orbiculare. Activity of the active substance of the drug with respect to pathogens is either fungistatic (suppressive development) or fungicidal (pernicious) nature, which depends on the type of fungi. Absorption in the case of external use is 5%, and, therefore, the drug also has a slight systemic effect.

Medicinal product for topical application "Terbinafine" - ointment, the instruction for use of which lists the following indications for its purpose: fungal skin lesions caused by dermatophytes, candidiasis and multicolored lichen. Whether the active substance of this ointment has a negative effect in pregnancy is not known, since no relevant studies have been conducted. At the same time, experiments conducted on animals did not reveal any adverse effects of the drug on the fetus.

The only contraindication to the administration of the drug "Terbinafine" (ointment) is the increased sensitivity of patients to its components. However, some conditions require special care in the treatment with a medicinal product. Here is their list: renal and / or hepatic insufficiency, oppression of the hematopoietic function of the bone marrow, alcoholism, metabolic disorders, oncological diseases, occlusive pathology of the vessels of the limbs, the period of breastfeeding, pregnancy. It is used with caution for the treatment of children under the age of twelve (due to insufficient experience in therapy).

The dosage and the method of application of the drug "Terbinafine" (ointment) describes the instructions for its use as follows: it is applied externally to the lesion and surrounding tissue with a thin layer once or twice a day, lightly rubbing. Immediately before applying the medicine, the skin needs to be cleaned and dried. The duration of therapy depends on the severity of the disease and is, on average, 2 to 4 weeks.

Regarding the multiplicity and duration of treatment with the drug "Terbinafine" (ointment), the instruction for its use, depending on the pathology, recommends the following schemes:

1. Dermatomycosis of feet, legs, trunk - once a day, for a week.

2. Cutaneous candidiasis - 2 weeks for 1 - 2 times a day.

3. Lichen multicolored - 2 weeks 1-2 times a day.

Overdose of this drug in case of its external application is unlikely. If the drug is accidentally ingested, the following symptoms may occur: nausea, headache, stomach pain, dizziness, rash, frequency of urination.

To treat this condition, activated charcoal is used, and, if necessary, maintenance symptomatic therapy is provided.

In the treatment with Terbinafine (ointment), the instruction for its use gives the following recommendations: to prevent recurrence of the disease, it is necessary to exclude irregular medication and / or the probability of early termination of therapy. If, 2 weeks after the start of treatment, there is no improvement in the condition, it is necessary to re-determine the causative agent of the pathology and its sensitivity to the drug.
