Messiahship is the idea of a Savior who will establish justice

Messiahship is one of the few ideas that has survived millennia. The thought of him runs through the whole of the Tanakh, which Christians call the Old Testament. To him for today about four thousand years.

What is that thought?

The people very seriously argued in due time about the Devil, but by the end of the XVIII century the latter practically brought to nothing its positions. The ideas of Hell and Paradise, which worried people almost two millennia, by the end of the XIX century, too, ceased to be relevant.

Now no one seriously discusses these issues, they have become literary. But the Messianic idea is alive, oddly enough, and it has enough followers.

Messiahship is a special saving role for the world of a person or people. We can recall the beginning of the third millennium, when more and more Messiahs came to Israel from all corners of the world to go from there triumphantly through the world. What each of them wanted to say is difficult, because among them there were people and sincere believers, and the sick, and wishing to make money on this wave. In fact, messianism is the teaching that the Messiah will establish justice and lead people to the truth of God, to salvation. Galich said well about this: "Only be afraid of the one who will say:" I know how it is necessary! ". Who will say: "To all who follow me, Paradise on earth is a reward."

Who can be the Messiah

The word "Messiah" is the Greek utterance of the Hebrew word "Mashiach," which means "anointed." The king, for example, is the anointed of God. When in ancient times the king was proclaimed a ruler, then to emphasize that this is not a usurper, he was anointed with an oil (very purified olive oil) on the kingdom. He knelt down, a prophet read prayers over him and dripped this oil on his head. Later, this rite with Christianity came to Europe and to Russia.

It was the materialization of divine grace. And in Israel, for example, they began to anoint judges and even military commanders.

The Messiah must be a messenger of God, and the question was what he should do. Some said that the king would be the messiah, but not necessarily from the Jews. Those who thought nontrivially, said that the Messiah would be a righteous judge. Others thought that what difference it was, what kind of sentence the judge would take, if no one would follow it anyway. Only a warrior can make people keep the word of truth. He will force the fraudster to comply with the law, the thief - to give back the plundered, predator - to respect the orphan, the widow. And, finally, there were people with the most original thinking. They said that no one will know the messiah. He will be poor, sick, unhappy, all persecuted. This idea then entered Christianity.

In Russia

At one time Count S. Uvarov put forward an idea on which, in his opinion, the state should keep. In his words, for Russia messianism is "Orthodoxy, autocracy, nationality". Such a thesis is a continuation of the ideologeme of the famous elder Philotheus: "Moscow is the third Rome", which by the 30th years of the XIX century had already somehow decayed and inspired no one. The idea of Uvarov was the antithesis of the French "Liberté. Egalite. Fraternit, who were feared as a fire in the Russian Empire. And its author treated with great distrust the election of the Russian people as a people-liberator, who knew the path of truth.

But this is the Russian messianism, if we briefly describe it. Even after the October Revolution, the whole world of Russia was seen in fetters, and it should be liberated.
And the messiah in this case was the proletariat. He will carry revolution around the world, destroying imperialism, enslaved all nations. But instead of the third Rome came the third Reich. The people then drove the invaders from their land. So what? Is justice established? The Cold War began, and terror continued inside the country. And then everything suddenly collapsed like a house of cards, and various political elites came to power, inside of which there is no unity.

"Special Destiny" of Russia

To date, national ideas have not yet emerged, there is no binding principle in Russian society. What can become the pledge of moral, spiritual and material revival of the country? Ideas of messianism? That is, God elected man will lead the country to prosperity?

What is the meaning of the word "messianism"? This is the concept of a messiah, that is, of a person whom God sends. He must improve the condition of all mankind: the Savior will come, who will establish a new order of justice and happiness. And the sufferings of Russia, like the suffering of Jesus, will atone for the sins of mankind. Is not this all too utopian?

How we live now

We simply go our own way, according to our historical "corridor". He is not bad and not good. It's just that he is like that. And do not compare yourself with either the West or the East. We have a different mentality, generated by cultural features, different climatic conditions, the vastness of the territory, the scarcity of soils, and therefore an inadequate surplus product.

We should develop our own concept of the revival of the country, and not wait for the arrival of the Savior. Our political elite is not ready for this. She does not have an idea unifying the whole country.

The elite clings to old thoughts about Christianity as a thread that will tie the country together. While this is not observed. Few people are willing to die for their faith, wanting to propagate it, living in prison, referring to declassed elements, to marginals. An intelligent person is also not inclined to propagate religious views. He just survives as he can. We can say that the country is now at a crossroads.
