Master cylinder clutch UAZ: characteristics and description

Any car with a manual transmission is equipped with a mechanism such as a master cylinder clutch. UAZ "Bukhanka" is not an exception. How is the master cylinder of the clutch? Why does he serve in the car? About all this - later in our article.

Clutch Features

In this case, we are considering a manual transmission. The car can not constantly move in the same gear. Accordingly, for its switching it is necessary to disconnect the box from the flywheel of the engine. To disengage friction disks, there is a clutch master cylinder and master cylinder. UAZ "Patriot" is also equipped with them. On foreign cars with automatic transmissions there are no such elements. Thus, it briefly disconnects the motor from the transmission and releases it smoothly when the pedal is released. The car is already on an increased (or lowered) gear.

Hydraulic drive

The cars of Ulyanovsk production use a hydraulic clutch drive. This node combines several elements, namely:

  • The main cylinder of UAZ clutch.
  • Hydraulic pipes and hoses for circulation of liquid.
  • Expansion tank-filler.
  • Clutch slave cylinder.
  • The return spring and the pedal.

With the help of the latter, the entire complex node is controlled.

How it works?

When the driver presses the pedal, a force is created in the system, which is transmitted via the rod to the master cylinder of the clutch. The UAZ 469 is still traveling "on the transfer." After a short period of time, the cylinder perceives these efforts and transfers them to the worker. In this case, the liquid passes through metal tubes and rubber hoses. The working cylinder is connected to the plug. When the piston of the element moves upwards, the fork is activated and moves the release bearing. Thus, the system disconnects the motor from the transmission. Continue this until the driver releases the pedal back. A long time to keep it should not be, because the bearing is heavily worn out. Over time, it starts to buzz. Therefore, experienced drivers advise to release the pedal if the car costs more than 10-15 seconds. Of course, if he is on the "neutral".

Device

What is the arrangement of the UAZ master clutch cylinder? This element consists of a metal body, a return spring, a piston and a pusher. The latter is connected to the clutch pedal.

Appointment

This element serves to transfer forces from the pedal to the working cylinder by converting the pressure of the hydraulic fluid. If we consider the construction in more detail, this element is divided into two parts. The upper serves to store and fill the drive with a hydraulic fluid. With proper adjustment, its volume should be 75 percent of the total working volume. As for the lower part of the master cylinder of the clutch, it serves as a working area. When the pedal is not squeezed, the element piston is pressed against the partition wall by a spring. Between the element and the pusher a gap is formed, which when the pedal is applied is filled with a hydraulic fluid. At the same time, its supply from the upper part stops. The piston transfers force from the driver's leg to the working cylinder, and then - to the squeeze fork. The level of pressure in the system increases substantially. Thus, the clutch operates by varying the diameter of the piston and increasing its outlets. Unlike mechanical, this type of drive is easier to use, because the pedal needs less force to operate the plug. When the driver releases the leg, the return spring is activated, which moves the piston of the element with the pusher to its original position. The fluid circulation between the two chambers resumes.

Description of malfunctions

The design of such an element as the master cylinder of clutch (UAZ including) and its components is very reliable. But it can also be a source of serious problems. One of the most frequent causes of failure is the low level of the hydraulic fluid in the expansion tank. It must be monitored with every maintenance, otherwise there will be a risk of remaining "without adhesion". At a low level, the piston is unable to make a normal push and activate the squeeze fork. The car will go in one gear. What could be the reason for the lack of a level? This is the depressurization of the system. Check all the pipes and hoses that go from the master cylinder to the working cylinder. The latter should also be checked for leaks. It happens that the anther is out of order. It is simply rubbed off from frequent movements of the stock. You can learn this from the dark oily tracks. The same tracks are found along the way, on the highways themselves (especially if it passes through a wheel arch). If you have non-standard wheels, which is very often important for UAZs, they can sweep the hose when turning. And it concerns not only the clutch, but also the brake pipes. In the bend, they are rubber. Do not let them depressurize. In the presence of cracks, it is urgent to make a replacement.

Air-confinement

Another reason why the UAZ clutch master cylinder does not work is the presence of air in the system. Even small bubbles can lead to failure of the clutch. This fault is closely related to the previous one. Air can be "sucked" from damaged pipes and hoses.

Replacement of the main clutch cylinder UAZ

If the car does not respond to pedal pressure, and the fluid level is normal and there is no damage to the tubes, it is most likely that the stem or piston itself is faulty. As a result, he can not work out the right pressure for the system to work. In order to replace the master cylinder of the clutch, the UAZ should be placed on a flat surface and the liquid must be pumped out using a syringe. Next, disconnect the master cylinder from the pedal and seal all the openings from which the liquid flows. This applies to the tubes. Take care not to get dirt and moisture inside. This liquid is very hygroscopic. Then loosen the nuts securing the cylinder and take it out. After installing a new element, add liquid and pump the system.

How to pump?

To do this, we need a hose and a plastic bottle, where the blown liquid will flow. We will pump through the valve on the working cylinder. It is unscrewed by a key for 10. We remove from it a protective cap, we put on a hose and we call the second assistant. He will click on the clutch pedal. At this time, you need to monitor the flowing fluid. Press it is necessary until it becomes homogeneous, that is, without bubbles. After this, once again check the level of the clutch fluid in the reservoir. If it fell, top it up to the maximum mark. It is important not to mix fluids from different manufacturers. If you do not know which brand was filled earlier, make a full replacement. It will be right. Especially since the life of the fluid on the clutch and brake system is not more than two years. Then it absorbs moisture and becomes ineffective.

So, we found out what the master cylinder of the car's clutch is, how it works and how to replace it with your own hands.
