Usually when it comes to American rock bands, there is an association with something postmodern and somewhat inconsistent with traditional moral values. However, "Skeleton" is a group that is an exception to this rule. The main purpose of this memphis group is to promote Christianity.
Age
Rock group "Skeleton" celebrates its twenty-year anniversary. Of the four members of the band, only bass guitarist and vocalist John Cooper was at the source of it and participated in all the compositions. The practice of inviting sessional musicians is common. Twice the work of Skeleton was nominated for the prestigious Grammy Award. John Cooper and Ken Stewart, before joining their efforts, were participants of different Christian groups. The cooperation of these musicians was initiated by their general pastor. Somewhere in a month the record company Fore Front Records paid attention to them and offered a joint contract. To name the group "Skeleton" was recommended by the same pastor: this was supposed to express, in his opinion, the combination of the most different directions of musical art in the work of one collective.
First steps
In 1996, the first album of the band "Skeleton" debuted. The group, led by producer Paul Ambersold, decided to name it just like the band itself. Writing songs was a Stuart and Cooper affair. The first claimed that the motives were taken from the surrounding life, from Bible texts, church sermons and prayers. Both musicians have repeatedly stated that they want to be the vehicles of divine revelation for the entangled people. Despite the positive evaluation of the disk by experts, he did not take any position at any of the charts. Cooper and Stewart, however, did not intend to surrender. And two years later released the next album. Now the style has changed: instead of grunge, the group chose alternative rock in a more relaxed manner. Soon, during the tour, the group was replenished with a new member - Cory Cooper. And in 1999 Ken Stewart left her, Kevin Haland came instead. Compared with the original album "Skeleton", the group at the turn of the millennium changed its stylistics again: post-industrial rock became more mature and developed, elements of techno and electronic music were included. The first live album Ardent Worship the team records in the style of "worship", it included ten songs, two of which became a "swan song" for former participants.
At the end of August 2001, the fourth album of "Skeleton" was released, and he was also the first to hit the chart.
On our land
November 2011 became a landmark for the Russian fans of the group: she visited Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad. After that, the "skeletons" performed four times in our country: in 2013, visited the two capitals, Ekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod and Novosibirsk, and in 2014 - Krasnodar, Rostov, Voronezh, Kazan, Samara.
Today
When the "Skeleton" was created, the group almost immediately attracted one more participant - Treya Maklarkina (drum). In 2004, Cooper won the ero The Rock Opera (the largest competition for Christian music), and in March a tour tour began in cooperation with four other prominent collectives. Global success was achieved with the album Awake, some songs of the group "Skeleton", included in it, for a long time remained at the top of popularity, were used by filmmakers and computer game creators. The last album to date was released in the summer of 2013, and so far there is only indeterminate information that another one will soon appear. During the existence of the band, its style has changed many times. The first compositions can be attributed to the style of post-grunge, then the project moved to industrial metal. The extreme albums are written in the aesthetics of alternative rock.
