Manufacture of cinder blocks: is it possible at home?

In connection with the trend towards an increase in the payment of public utilities in the housing and communal services sector, many of our fellow citizens are thinking about settling their own private dwelling on the land. Naturally, many people have a question about how it is more economical for their own budget to build this very dwelling so that it is comfortable, convenient, accessible, and, moreover, there was no need to get into gloomy bank loans.

The most accessible building material is slag block blocks. Is it possible to manufacture cinder blocks at home? Of course! All that is needed, as a rule, is available to many: cement, water, filler.

So, what do we mean by filler? It includes slag, expanded clay, gypsum, crushed stone, screening of gravel, gravel, sawdust, brick waste (called "chamotte"), perlite, ash and other.

The biggest mistake of many who accepts the production of cinder blocks with their own hands is that in order to save time, formwork is quickly formed from the boards, the solution is poured into it, and when the bottom layer hardens, they pass higher. With such a pouring inside the walls there are no voids, which, as we know, are necessary for better thermal insulation. As a result, in winter such houses, garages or any other structures, freeze.

So, if we love ourselves beloved or our "iron horses", and we will save heat energy inside the constructed premises, then let's take for the rule: the production of cinder blocks should be conducted with voids. First, it will be warmer; Secondly, the solution itself will be less needed, rather than at the same size, but without voids. Solid blocks are suitable only for laying the foundation. I think it sounds convincing.

You can buy an inexpensive machine like "Vibromaster", and you can make the shape for the blocks yourself. Manufacturing of cinder blocks with voids is elementary: it is possible to use usual bottles, of which a huge amount is thrown to landfills. Forms should be without bottoms, from the inside upholstered either with metal plates or plastic. An empty former is produced, equal to the perimeter of the form without bottoms.

The next important step is the preparation of the mixture. You can write in a scientific way. And you can by the eye. The most optimal variant of the ratio of cement: 1 to 8 or 1 to 9. Water is needed so much that the solution turned out to be tough.

First we put the blanker, then we put the mold on top, which we subsequently fill with the solution. Good tampers. We turn over. The block is ready.

We were all children, and we remember well how we played in the sandbox. Also filled the molds with moist sand, and then turned over. The shape was carefully removed, and the shape of the sand repeated the selected plastic figure. The production of slag blocks is carried out according to the same principle. A lot of water - it will not work out - it will fizzle out, a little - it will fall apart, we will not take it easy - the solution does not completely repeat the form.

Well, finally. Do not forget that the cement finally penetrates only after 28-30 days. When manufactured at home, it is desirable to add a plasticizer in the amount of 5 mg per block. This will give plasticity to the entire mortar. Do not forget that when laying such blocks you need to stack them with voids down.
