There are many factors that contribute to the development of the disease.

The disease can be provoked:

  • Bone age changes in the vertebral body;
  • Infringement of nerve roots;
  • Inflammatory process in muscles and ligaments located near the nerves and pressing on the spine;
  • Displacement or subluxation of the vertebrae;
  • Traumas of the spine;

Treatment

Lumbar radiculitis is treated differentially. The approach to therapy depends on the etiology, stage of the disease and phase of development. First, the patient is prescribed only physical therapy, which has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect. To relieve pain with acute lumbosacral radiculitis, ultraviolet irradiation of the lumbar region is used. Drugs are used in the second phase. They normalize the trophism of tissues, stimulate metabolic and regenerative processes, regulate blood circulation. Effective use of Novocaine blockers, painkillers, biogenic stimulants, and also B vitamins. Anesthetics are prescribed for acute pain syndrome. If the cause of radiculitis are dystrophic changes of the spinal column, stretching, physiotherapy, massage, acupuncture, exercise therapy are shown.

Lumbar radiculitis: treatment at home

From home remedies, regular sessions of physiotherapy, massages and a special diet are recommended.

LFK is aimed at strengthening the muscles and giving the spine the best mobility. Complex normalizes muscle tone, increases the mobility of the spine, improves the overall condition. Massage with radiculitis should be performed during remission, in the acute phase it is contraindicated. Massage procedures are performed by specialists or by the patient alone. Self-massage can be done lying down, sitting or standing.

The main methods of self-massage with radiculitis are stroking and rubbing the back with a special method.

Lumbar radiculitis can be treated more quickly if a diet that normalizes the general state of the body is observed. The diet should include vegetable salads and fruits. It is necessary to exclude fried, fatty and spicy food, strong tea, coffee.
