Late childbirth: is it worth starting a child after forty?

Today the late birth is called the first childbearing after thirty-five years. However, even now, the old-fashioned midwives are squinting at twenty-five-year-old girls who give birth for the first time, secretly calling them old-timers. Where do these stereotypes come from?

In the ancient world it was the norm to give birth to twenty years. Otherwise, girls fell into the category of peculiar losers. They were threatened with public reprimand, for the main purpose of the birth of children at that time was to replenish the ranks of soldiers - there is no child, and there is no benefit for the state from such a woman. In the Middle Ages, the situation did not improve much - the girls were also married early, and for partners much older, who at first thought about sex, and only then about contraception.

The period of Soviet power with its stony morality here, surprisingly, is also not very prominent. Already at twenty-five, a woman with the first child fell into this "shameful" category. At the same time, the definition of the old-born was almost equated with the old maid, which many female representatives could not possibly bear.

The stormy seventies, of course, brought the Western winds to the post-Soviet countries. In Europe, the first birth has already been stably "overtaken" for a thirty-year mark, and the age of the mother was not condemned. On the contrary, late births were perceived as a sign of maturity, finding a certain position in the society, stable income in the family, etc. Such a position soon became adequately perceived in the Union, well, in the dashing 1990s it was simply ignored, because A woman increasingly moved to the business community, pushing motherhood for a certain period. Even then, the birth in 45 years was not perceived as something unusual. Now the Mom's forums are full of women of forty years of age who either plan a pregnancy, or discuss the colic of their children. This trend shows that late births are becoming not so much popular as an informed choice of the beautiful half of humanity. And the birth rate at this age does not diminish.

Here it is worth mentioning also the negative aspect that sometimes late birth is not a choice of a woman, but a kind of chance. Paying for the mistakes of youth, or for other reasons unable to conceive earlier, women clean up their reproductive system to about forty years of age, and then the question of choosing the timing of delivery is no longer worth it - the sooner, the better.

A fully explainable factor of late delivery is the improvement of material status or remarriage with the desire of a common baby. In this case, late childbirth is also not something unusual - many couples are now deciding on such actions. And among them are popular politicians, show business stars, business ladies.

Physicians ambiguously evaluate late delivery. On the one hand, in most cases, the mother's health does not speak in favor of late delivery - by the age of forty a woman accumulates in a history of a bunch of not only gynecological abnormalities, but also deviations from the heart, excretory and digestive systems. This factor will always respond to the health of the baby and the state of the mother's health during pregnancy and childbirth. On the other hand, late birth gives mother greater confidence that she can adequately raise a child, not saving on elementary things, providing the spiritual needs of the baby. As a huge plus, the father's increased responsibility for the child is added here - as a rule, late births for the pope are an excellent chance to realize his paternity in full.

Whatever the causes of late birth, the mother should understand that at the age of sixty, next to her there will be, in fact, a teenager who needs colossal help. In the meantime, help may be needed by the parents themselves. The latest birth was recorded at the age of seventy, but is it worth it to condemn the child to loneliness?
