Description and Location

The Lake of Senezh is an artificially created reservoir. It is located about 60 kilometers from Moscow, on the outskirts of Solnechnogorsk. The length of the coastline is 16 kilometers, and the area is about nine hectares (the maximum width is three kilometers, and the length is about 5 kilometers). The greatest depth of the lake is 6 meters, and the average is about three meters. The pond has an irregular shape, as numerous bays form uneven contours of the banks. In the bay, which is formed at the mouth of the Sister River, there are small islands (an area of 2 hectares). During the hours of sunset, they are painted in a bright crimson color. Because of this, they were called Malinovs.

The bottom of the lake is muddy, a lot of algae grow on the coast. From Senezh, the Sister River originates. History

Until the beginning of the 19th century, Lake Senezh was not in sight. In its place was a small lake Guschino. However, when more than 30 locks were erected between the Sister and Istra rivers, more than 30 locks were built (13 on Istra, over 20 on Sestra), dams and bridges were built, then in the upper Sister River, after absorbing the Guschinino lake, as a result of the increase The volume of water formed a new artificial reservoir - Lake Senezh. Two rivers feed on it: Sister and Maseh.
