Keret River: fishing and recreation

The Russian Federation is famous all over the world for its rich water resources. Characteristics of the river

A river popular with tourists is in Karelia on the territory of Louhi district. Emerging from the Keren lake of the same name, the watercourse extends 80 kilometers in length and flows into the White Sea. The river bed is fast, in the high water - a stormy, so often there are alloys, sports and tourist routes. The Keret River is rightly considered to be one of the largest northern water streams not only in Karelia, but in the whole of Russia. That is why the attention of tourists to it grows every year in geometric progression, despite the fact that its channel passes through hard quartz rocks, and the alloy is considered to be one of the most difficult and dangerous in the whole federation.

Visually, the water area is a combination of currents and coastal lakes, bordered mainly by coniferous trees. The river Keret, an alloy on which is very popular, has rocky outcrops to the shores, which are combined with marshy areas. This often surprises travelers. The reservoir is characterized by its slight slope in comparison with other watercourses of Karelia, however in some places the speed of water flow becomes dangerous for tourists.

Magnificent pure nature and the river Keret with its surroundings, which are completely untouched by civilization, attract not only lovers of extreme tourism. Of course, here you can often meet groups of people rafting along the river on boats or kayaks. However, in addition to thrill-seekers, those who enjoy the beauty of nature, coniferous forests and clean river water rest on the coast.

In the coastal zone, the Keret River is rich in diverse vegetation. Basically its channel is surrounded by pine trees and firs. Often it is possible to meet deciduous tree species - birch and aspen. Local people often visit the vicinity of the river to collect mushrooms and berries, medicinal herbs.

Fishing

Fishing in the Keret River is not the most popular entertainment, despite its abundance and diversity. Here you can easily find pike, perch, yazya, roach, burbot, even salmon. Unfortunately, the Keret River is an aquatorium where there is a ban on fishing in some areas. The salmon is bred in the river, therefore fish are not officially allowed in certain places, or there is a restriction on the equipment used for fishing. Nevertheless, on the tributaries of the river you can meet a huge number of fishermen, the catch of which often reaches unprecedented proportions.

Thanks to the beauty and richness of such a reservoir as the river Keret, fishing and rest in this place really impress tourists. Near the coast there are comfortable boarding houses, accommodation in which is available to all comers, and rafting along the river has long become common for local residents. That is why the popularity of the Keret River is increasing every year.
