Keratoma skin

Neoplasm in the form of a dark spot, which remotely resembles a freckle - keratoma of the skin. It has a tendency to constant growth, peeling, keratinization and turning into plaques that have a dark brown, dirty gray or black color. The main peak of morbidity falls on the age group, which has crossed the forty-year boundary. Keratoma occurs in men and women in equal measure.

The average size of education is one to two square centimeters. Its surface is uneven and covered with stratum corneums. Externally, keratoma can be compared with a large dent in the skin. Keratoma on the face is often enough, however, in the vast majority it occurs on the skin of the trunk, limbs.

Causes of appearance

The main cause of the appearance of keratoma is excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays, which is observed after a long stay in the sun. Excess ultraviolet is a provoking factor, which leads to the growth of the epidermis of the skin. The result is the keratinization of this layer and the formation of keratoma

Symptoms

The keratoma of the skin begins to appear as a spot on the skin that has a coffee or grayish color. Over time, it grows and rises above the skin, is covered with a dense, scaly crust. The layers periodically break away. This process is characterized by pain, sometimes bleeding occurs.

Kinds of keratomas

Distinguish the following species of kerat: senile (senile), seborrhoeic, horny, sunny, follicular. The first type of neoplasm is characterized by the appearance of multiple elements, which gradually increase in size, cover with crusts, and tend to be inflamed. They are formed in people older than thirty years, localized on the neck, face, back of the hands.

Seborrheic keratoma also tends to grow. Gradually it darkens, becomes covered with cracks. This type of neoplasm is the most dangerous. She brings pain and bleeds most often.

Keratoma of the skin can develop linearly. In this case it is called horny. Education is plural, occupying different parts of different forms. It is most often susceptible to malignant degeneration, therefore it requires removal at the first stages of development.

Solar keratoma is characteristic most often for men. It develops in open areas for the sun, it represents multiple foci covered with gray scales.

A very rare form of neoplasm are follicular keratomas. They develop mainly in the female half of the population and represent nodules that are grayish, pink in size up to one centimeter. The zone of localization is the scalp skin, covered with hair, the upper lip.

Treatment

Self- treatment with keratas should not be done. This can lead to their malignant degeneration and the development of squamous cell carcinoma.

Distinguish the following types of keratosis removal: laser, with the help of liquid nitrogen, radiosurgery, surgical excision.

Removal of keratoma by laser is the most effective method of treatment. It has no contraindications, complications. The chance of relapse is reduced to zero.

When used to remove liquid nitrogen, anesthesia is not required, the procedure is painless. A week after the application of this method, the tumor disappears, in its place remains a pink patch, which disappears after a month.

The keratoma of the skin can be removed with a radio-knife. This method is called radiosurgery. After applying this tool, the tissue around the neoplasm remains intact.

Surgical excision is a traditional method, performed with the help of a scalpel. After the procedure, there remains a seam, which leaves a scar behind it.
