Is there really a picture of Repin "Sailed"?

Have you ever heard of the existence of Repin's painting "Have Sailed"? Perhaps, after all, the great artist created many genre paintings. If there is a picture "Do not wait," then why not be a picturesque work under a similar "story" name? To create such a canvas, you need to have an adventurous character warehouse and an uncommon sense of humor. However, those who carefully scrutinized masterpieces of the master will not argue with what literally every picture of Repin reveals to us a multifaceted and fascinating world.

"Have come". Description of the picturesque masterpiece

Along the meadows beyond the village there is a small river, a fog over it. In the distance the domes of the white-walled church appear, the horses graze. In the background of the picture life is boiling. At the beach in the water splashing naked women of different ages, some blissfully basking in warm streams, others are busily washing themselves. On the sloping bank, clothes are thrown, buckets with a yoke, the girl undresses, the old woman takes off her back to her clothes. Between them, looking at the water, gossip about something two gossips. Two children in the underdog look at us fervently.

And suddenly, out of a dense fog, a boat with monks enters the very center of the nude scene. The peasants are recoiling, the blacks are dumbfounded with oars, and only the fat father in the middle of the boat seems not at all embarrassed: he stands with his hands behind his back and hides a mischievous smile in his red beard . The culminating moment was written beautifully by the author: shock, surprise, amazement and at the same time ready to burst out laughing from the incident. Well, this is not Repin? "Have come!" - we smile, amusing ourselves with the comic effect of the situation. Only this picture belongs not to Ilya Efimovich. Where does the misconception that this is Repin's picture?

"Have sailed" or "We did not go there"?

Canvas with the above-described plot, exhibited in the museum of the city of Sumy in Ukraine, belongs to the brush of Lev Grigorievich Solovyov. A Russian artist who did not receive professional education (he was a free listener of the Academy of Arts), wrote talented canvases and icons. Being a native of the peasants, the painter willingly illustrated the works of Nekrasov.

A picture called "Monks. Not there they stopped "Soloviev created in the 70 years of the 19th century. At the exposition next to her were paintings of Repin. Confusion in the public consciousness arose, perhaps because there is some kind of similarity in the comprehension of the plot collision, in relation to the heroes and in the graphic manner of the two artists. So there was a legend passed from mouth to mouth, entitled "Repin's Painting" Sailed! ". This expression has already become a phraseology.

Another myth

But the collective mind does not calm down and continues to search in the creations of the famous painter a work that can be designated by this name. And now some "experts" say that Repin's painting "Sailed" is the painting created by Ilya Efimovich in 1894 "Bears. Homeless. " It is exhibited in the Odessa Art Museum.

What are the dreams of the tramps?

In the foreground we see two homeless people. The older one, woefully thoughtful, hides his hands coldly in a long black caftan. Next to his bent figure lies a lean elbows on the arm, a young "ragamuffin" in dirty frayed clothes. Bright azure shining in the sun water crosses the diagonal stone shabby curb. With a dazzlingly clear water expanse and a white sail in the center, the squalid dark outlines of vagrants compete. Simultaneously, the romanticism of the landscape is something that echoes with the serene expression of the young tramp's face, which, it seems, finds its happiness in vagrancy. Contrast, in which there is, however, a certain parallel, this is what Repin's painting contains. Have these two arrived in a casual barge and settled right there on the dock, or are they waiting for the passing barge to go elsewhere? We, together with the heroes, fall into a stopped moment of expectation and reflect on the vicissitudes of being.

Ilya Repin's Water Paintings

The master created more than one work in which events are played on the shore, and about which one could say: "This is a picture of Repin" Sailed. "Of course, the well-known" Burlaki on the Volga " In this category are not included, but, for example, "The End of the Black Sea Wolves" (the canvas was created in the 1900s) is quite consistent with this name. The plot of the picture can be considered a continuation of the theme, which is dedicated to the canvas created in the same years "Cossacks on the Black Sea". There are depicted Cossacks, who fell into a storm after the attack of the Turkish coast. Confusion, heroism, dramatic heat is present on the canvas. And the painting "The End of the Black Sea Wolnitsa" shows captive Cossacks sitting on the shore of the stormy sea and doomed to death under the evil eyes and rifles of Turkish guards.
