Carier start

Irina was born on February 9, 1979 in the capital of the Russian Federation, in the city of Moscow, in the family of a teacher and engineer. The girl very early started going to the sports section. At the age of four, her mother brought her there, as Ira was often sick. Two years later, under the wing, the girl was taken by the trainer Zhanna Fedorovna Gromova, she accompanied her all these years. Irina Slutskaya turned out to be a very talented girl and already in 1993 (she was then 14 years old) joined the junior national team of the country. Moreover, she immediately became the champion of Russia among juniors, and in the world championship she took the third place. But two years later she successfully won the title of world champion among juniors, and this was the first significant achievement in her life. Irina did not stop at this and in the same year in the adult championships of the world and Europe took, respectively, the seventh and fifth places. So her debut in professional sports took place.

Professional career

Irina Slutskaya became really famous after winning the European Championships in 1996, in addition, she became the first Russian figure skater to win this title. In the same year she appeared at world competitions, where she managed to get bronze. In the following years, she will become European champion six more times, thus breaking the world record. Irene experienced and setbacks, 1998-1999 became very unsuccessful for her. She did not get into the national team of the country and she had to miss all the major competitions of this season. But already in 2000 Irina made up for lost time and regained the leading position. In addition, she managed to do something incredible: she was the first skater to perform a triple lutz / triple rytberger jump. Previously, it was not possible to do this girl. The following year, she was waiting for a new record, Irina performed a cascade of 3-3-2. Her achievements are truly amazing and unforgettable.

Olympic

Irina Slutskaya took her first participation in the Olympic Games in 1998 in Nagano. She took only the fifth place, but for the first time it was an impressive result. The following Games took place in 2002, this time Irina lost the championship to an American and became a silver medalist. But not all agreed with its loss, so, the politician of the Urals Anton Bakov decided to personally award Irina with the gold medal "For an honest victory." The award itself was cast entirely of gold and weighed no less than a kilogram. At the Winter Olympics held in Turin, Slutskaya managed to get bronze, and so far she is the only figure skater in Russia who has two medals of the Olympics.

Heavy years

After 2003, when she won the European championship and missed the world competitions, Irina Slutskaya missed two years due to her mother's illness. On this the troubles did not end, after my mother got to her feet, Irina fell ill herself. She ran for a long time to doctors, who eventually diagnosed her - vasculitis, severe vascular disease. Of course, all in one voice forbade the skater to go to the ice, but it had no effect. Slutskaya did not listen to anyone. Irina was also filmed in the movie, however, the roles were not the first plan, but in 2008 she made her debut in the theatrical production of "Antigone - Always", and it did not stop there. Irina tried herself and as a singer, singing a duet with Sergei Kristovsky's song "New Year's". Since 2011, Slutskaya is the host on the First Channel, she introduces the audience to the sports news.

Family and Children

Irina Slutskaya, whose family was always on the first place, married in 1999, in August. Their relationship with Sergei evolved through telephone conversations, and at first to Irina he seemed too insistent, but then she realized that she had fallen in love. In 2007, their first child appeared, Artem. Being an exemplary father, Sergei Mikheev took almost all the care of the child for himself, because he understood the workload of Irina. But, as often happens with other families, two years after the birth of a son, a discord has developed in their relationship. Irina Slutskaya's husband and herself were not inclined to break up, so all the forces abandoned to preserve the marriage. The former skater went to the decree and tried to spend as much time with her family. In 2010, Varvara was born, which strengthened the family ties even more.

Even being a famous figure skater, Irina is fond of other sports - for example, snowboarding. She also has all kinds of hobbies. As well as at all known people, at Slutsk there are crowds of fans who necessarily give her something. As a rule, these are soft toys, so Irina began to collect them.
