Shuttle Run

One type of running for short distances is the shuttle run. It differs from the usual in that you have to overcome the distance back and forth several times. In sports, shuttle run is usually used to determine the speed for lack of other opportunities for running for a hundred meters, for example, in the gym. Here the distance can be from ten to 100 meters, and the number of races - up to 10. This run is used most often in football, track and field, basketball, boxing and volleyball.

Shuttle Run is a special exercise in which an athlete needs to run a certain distance from line to line. In the gym, for example, celebrate six or seven lines in a row. Running starts from the first line, then runs up to the second, returns back to the first, and then runs to the third, and return to the second, and so on to the last line. In the physical education classes, everyone practiced shuttle races in gyms, and also participated in competitions between classes. The distance for the shuttle race should not exceed one hundred meters. Such races are often used in a competition called "Funny starts". Here they are happy to practice whole families.

Shuttle racing perfectly develops dexterity, coordination of movements and starting speed, and is also the best way of training the development of speed. Excitement in the competition will give you a lot of positive emotions, but do not think that in the shuttle race there is nothing complicated, because it is quite traumatic.

The main thing in the shuttle race is a quick start. Start with a low or high position, it depends on how the team agreed. Also, it is important to choose comfortable shoes, because you will need to stop sharply, turn around and run back. If in the gym your shoes begin to slide, then you can tear or pull the muscles. Shuttle racing is a type of training for sprinters. It improves speed, develops good coordination of movements and teaches control on the treadmill. Also, he perfectly trains the technique of the starting run and the finish jerk for a long, medium and short distance. Sometimes the shuttle is used as a test for agility and speed.

Shuttle Run: Launch Technique

Running starts with a low or high start. In this form of running there are no starting blocks, used in races for a hundred meters. A proper high start should look like a speed skating. That is, the trunk should be slightly tilted forward, and the toe is deployed about thirty degrees. A foot can be placed on the toe, the jogging leg should be somewhat tense and be ready to start. Very often the determining factor for success in shuttle racing is the ability to quickly gain speed from the start.

Technique of the right finish

The technique of shuttle running at the finish is about the same as in the hundred-meter race. For the last turn you should get the maximum speed for you and, without slowing down, finish. Previously, sprinters tried to finish in the jump, but this method is considered ineffective. Only qualified athletes with good coordination of movements can finish the throw to the finish line, as the beginner will involuntarily concentrate all his attention on preparing for the throw and slow down the run. Therefore, if you are new to the shuttle, try to reach the finish line at the speed limit for you.

Shuttle run will not be difficult for those who do sports or just run. For people without special physical preparation, such running will become quite a big load on the body, since it requires finding the limit of the running possibilities, and sudden braking creates additional difficulties.
