How is marked pedestrian crossing signs. Pedestrian crossing: SDA

A special area on the roadways is called a pedestrian crossing. It is necessary to move passers-by from one side of the street to the other. Usually it is isolated in some way. Sometimes it can be artificial structures, built above the road or under it. SDA require that a pedestrian crossing be indicated by road signs - special or marked.

"Zebra" and signs for people, as a rule, are installed before the intersection or near a trolleybus or tram stop. They can be found in other places where the flow of passers-by is too intense. It is here that it is so important to follow the requirements of the SDA strictly. In accordance with the law, the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (formerly called the State Motor Inspectorate) is responsible for regulating changes on the roads and ensuring order.

Systematization of pedestrian areas

Where the "zebra" marking is drawn, the pedestrian crossing is called a ground crossing. It is in this place that people can move from one side of the street to the other. This part of the pavement can be isolated in other ways.

The most simple are unregulated pedestrian crossings. It is on them that drivers of cars and other means of transportation are obliged to give way to passers-by. Transitions of this kind are made in the streets, where the flow of cars is relatively small. And what kind of sign is used here? Pedestrian crossing unregulated is denoted by sign 5.19. Very often such sections of roads are equipped with traffic lights. But these devices are either turned off, or they only have a yellow lamp blinking.

By the way, on such transitions since 2010, especially in megacities with intensive traffic of vehicles, began to use additional means of allocation. Now they look like this:

  • The pedestrian area is illuminated as brightly as possible.
  • Before the transition, you can meet "lying policeman."
  • A duplicating sign is hung over the roadway.
  • Flashing yellow lights are set.
  • The sign "Pedestrian crossing" is surrounded by a yellow-green retroreflective edging.
  • Near it sometimes there are noise bands: four or five "lying policemen", located at different distances. And the frequency of allocation increases depending on the approach to the transition.
  • The "Zebra" looms white with alternate orange.
  • The light animation of the sign is used.

Adjustable pedestrian crossings are called equipped with serviceable, ordinary traffic lights, road sections. As a rule, they are placed along the lines of a street intersection. Automobile and pedestrian traffic lights are combined. Such transitions can also be found outside the crossroads. But they are equipped with traffic lights with a button, which includes a green signal on demand.

Extra-pedestrian crossings can be located on the same level as the road, and on different levels. They are divided into aboveground and underground. The construction of such facilities is very expensive. Only therefore, both above-ground and underground pedestrian crossing can be found only on the streets with a large auto-flow. After all, the "zebra", applied to the roadway in such places, would lead to a decrease in the capacity of the road.

Transitions for pedestrians under the ground are built not only under the carriageway of motorways, but also under railway tracks.

The above-ground corridors have the parameters of a bridge or viaduct. They are equipped both above the pavements and over the railway tracks.

rules

How is the passage of pedestrian crossings carried out, if not working or there is no traffic light? According to clause 14.1. Rules of traffic on the roads of Russia (SDA RF), the driver is obliged to pass people walking along the carriageway.

The rules for crossing the pedestrian crossing also say that if there is a traffic light for cars or people on the zebra, then you should wait for the green permissive signal to light up and only after it start moving. In addition, the driver must pass passers-by walking across the road to which he turns. This is indicated in clause 13.1. SDA of the Russian Federation.

For walks

What is called a pedestrian zone? This is urban land, designed exclusively for people. They are not allowed to travel by road. The only exceptions are the cars of route transport, special services, communal equipment, cars for the disabled, to service stores. And, of course, only when the car does not have an alternative route. It should be noted that the first zones of this kind appeared in Europe in the 1950s.

According to Russian rules

How does the pedestrian crossing generally mean? GOST requires placing signs on each side of the street near its borders. And what is the pedestrian zone in Russian practice? This is a territory with a sign 5.33 on all sides around the perimeter. By the way, before the appearance of his used sign 3.2 "Movement is prohibited." As a rule, the border of such a site is located where the road sign 5.34 "End of the pedestrian zone" is installed. In this territory, any means of transportation are prohibited from traveling. But you can sometimes meet tramways and pedestrian alleys. In this case, an exception is made for trams.

The first pedestrian street in Moscow was the Arbat. Movement on it by car is prohibited long ago.

Bridges for the population

Overground pedestrian crossings are called extra-corridor corridors for passers-by. They are made in the form of a kind of bridge. Only people can move on it. Such a crossing is usually above the railway tracks or the carriageway.

Advantages of walking bridges:

  • The level of safety is much higher than that of ground pedestrian crossings.
  • In comparison with underground corridors for people they have a lower cost.
  • There is no need to change underground communications.
  • 24-hour lighting is not used. After all, everything that happens in the transition is perfectly visible from the outside.

The main drawback of such passes is a large difference in altitude, which can not be said about underground structures.

The road sign "Aboveground pedestrian crossing" according to GOST of the Russian Federation is included in the category of signs bearing information, and has No. 6.7.

Underground structures

Underpasses for pedestrians, as a rule, consist of a tunnel, located under the railway or roadway. To it lead the steps from the pedestrian paths. Very often such a ladder has special descents for bicycles, wheelchairs and wheelchairs. Near it, you can always see the sign of the transition.

In the USSR underground corridors were used by people in accordance with their functions. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, they started building shops, billboards appeared. Some, too large in size underground transitions are converted into shopping centers. The entrances to them are usually closed for the night. In those megacities where there are subways, such corridors are combined with the nearest metro station.

The road sign "Pedestrian underpass crossing" according to GOST of Russia belongs to the category of signs for information and has No. 6.6.

Advantages and disadvantages of underground structures

The advantage of an underground passage is its small depth, about two or three meters. A great opportunity for the development of small and medium-sized businesses is also the use of space under the streets for commercial purposes.

The disadvantage of these structures is too expensive construction. After all, during construction, streets are blocked, excavation works are carried out, and sometimes even engineering lines are to be re-laid.

Interesting Facts

The first underground passages were built in Moscow in 1959. In St. Petersburg, too, there are such facilities. The longest takes its origin from the lobby of the metro station "Vyborgskaya", located on the surface of the earth.

Violation of traffic rules

Since September 2013, according to the latest issue of the fines table, the punishment for ignoring passers-by has been tightened. Article 12.18 of the Administrative Code clearly states: the penalty for a pedestrian crossing is 1500 rubles. So much will pay a driver who does not want to give way to people or cyclists.

If, however, in a regulated transition the driver violates this rule, the punishment will be much more serious. Namely: Art. 12.12 part 1, which treats traffic to red light, will reduce your budget by 1000 rubles. But if there is a repeated violation, the penalty is paid in the amount of 5000 rubles, and the rights are withdrawn for 4-6 months. Do not stop before the stop line? According to Art. 12.12 p. 2, this incident will facilitate your purse by 800 rubles.

Oh, this pedestrian crossing! The traffic rules say that when approaching the "zebra", near which there is no traffic light, the driver must slow down and let people pass, even if they started moving from the opposite side of the street.

When does a pedestrian pay a fine?

Are drivers always to blame for road crashes? After all, there are many cases when passers-by suddenly jump out in front of the car. In fact, a person must first assess the situation on the roadway and only then start traffic across the road. Typically, the sign "Pedestrian crossing" is placed at a convenient distance, in the redistribution of visibility, so that people can navigate the streets easier.

The car owner can use the DVR. This device will help him prove that it was the passerby who suddenly jumped out in front of the car. The motorist will be able to demonstrate that, according to the instructions, he slowed down and assessed the situation on the road. And then the pedestrian can expect a fine of 500 rubles. This option is also suitable for those cases when people rush to cross the road, and the traffic light is still red. Practice shows that it is very difficult to talk with pedestrians, especially if they are elderly people. Therefore, it is better not to create emergency situations. It is just necessary to understand a little the psychology of a person. It is better to show the citizen that you are missing him than pay fines later. Moreover, there are many video cameras in the city streets.

If you stopped the inspector, ask him to call a pedestrian. After all, only he can tell if you made him change the speed and direction of movement? You can find out from the pedestrian whether the crossing on the "zebra" represented a danger for him or not. After all, he had no right to start traffic across the road with the prohibition sign of traffic lights or in general, where there is no transfer. Inspector of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate is obliged to inform the victim that according to Art. 51 of the Constitution, he has the right not to testify against himself. After the explanation, the passer-by will claim that you did not create any interference, and he appreciates and reveres the sign "Pedestrian crossing". Well, at least he will just be silent.

If the traffic police officer does not want to talk to the victim, ask them to write to you in the minutes: "The inspector refused to invite the pedestrian, which violated my right to present evidence in accordance with Article 25.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses." I did not interfere with the movement of the pedestrian. "There is no evidence of an offense."

Who is the traffic controller and why do you need a traffic light?

Adjusters can turn any intersection into an adjustable pedestrian crossing. Pictures that indicate it can be found in the SDA. If you saw on the road an employee of the traffic police, then you must obey his actions, and not signals traffic lights.

The regulator, as a rule, demonstrates special gestures:

  • Above the head is raised the right hand - in this case pedestrians are prohibited from moving.
  • If the regulator has extended his right hand forward - people are allowed to walk from the side of his back.
  • And if he pulled his hands in opposite directions in the form of the letter T? This gesture means that the movement of pedestrians is allowed both behind the regulator and in front of him.

In practice, traffic police officers use completely different gestures. Very often they allow passers-by to move with the usual wave of the hand in the right direction.

And how does the traffic light cross the road? To perform this function, it must work in red-yellow-green mode.

There is a special pedestrian traffic light. It is made of two sections, which depict red and green men. This traffic light allows citizens to go if the green signal is turned on, and prohibits them from moving if red is turned on. Non-compliance with the signals of the device is a violation of traffic rules, for which an administrative penalty may be imposed on a pedestrian .

Unregulated "zebra"

The rules for the transition of the pedestrian crossing are unregulated, rather strict, but fair. They say that a person must take care of the safety of his movement. Do not rush under the wheels of approaching cars, as most Russian pedestrians do.

Crossing the motorway away from the crossing, you need to take care of your own safety. After all, there is no marking "Pedestrian crossing." Remember that you can not leave because of other cars. You should not interfere with the movement of the car. It is necessary in such places to cross the road at a sufficient distance from the approaching transport. Far from the transitions, almost always pedestrians are the culprits of road accidents.

Crossing the roadway

We continue to study the pedestrian crossing. SDA Prohibit making stops when crossing a road. And only when you need to ensure the safety of traffic, you have the right to stop. Theoretically, each person at any time can rest on the carriageway on a special security island, referring to this rule. But in practice, such tricks are not recommended.

You can stop on the line separating the opposite directions of traffic flows. It is not recommended to do this on roads with a lively traffic. It is better to calculate your strength beforehand and overcome the roadway completely.

By the way, a line dividing opposite directions of traffic flows is some imaginary line, which you are asked to determine yourself, and not road markings on asphalt.

And the last thing: a person walking along a pedestrian crossing should not give way to cars that only have flashing beacons and there is no special sound signal.
