Introduction of the school uniform: the arguments "for" and "against"

The school uniform in Russia can again become mandatory as of September 1, 2013. This decision is most likely to be passed legislatively, at the federal level, but specific details will be left to the discretion of the regional and regional guidelines. Despite the fact that the project is only being discussed, it has already caused a lot of controversy.

According to polls, 68% of respondents voted for the introduction of the school uniform. This position of Russians is quite understandable: the adoption of a uniform style in clothes for all students has many merits. First of all, the introduction of the school uniform creates a sense of social equality: children from low-income families are no longer sharply different from the offspring of wealthy parents. In addition, a uniform style of clothing determines the child's belonging to a certain community, not in vain, many educational institutions have long introduced their own form. Another important plus is that teenagers will stop going to school in clothes that are more suitable for recreation, for example, in open tops, shorts, T-shirts with provocative drawings, jeans, sports suits, etc.

But in Russia there are many opponents of the practice of universal unification. The old school uniform, which was in our country from the 1940s through the 1990s, not only caused rejection of some of the students (as a rule, bright and non-standard personalities who resisted attempts to make everyone the same), so it was not Very high quality. That is why some of our compatriots oppose the introduction of a single style for students: after all, cultural diversity will disappear, personality will disappear and the impulse for further development will be lost. And, despite the large selection of different fabrics, there is a fear that clothes for students will be uncomfortable or made of poor-quality material. In addition, the introduction of the school uniform is a fertile field for corruption, because now in some educational institutions parents are obliged to buy things strictly defined by the manufacturer. Yes, and prices sometimes set such that not every family can afford. It is especially hard for parents who have more than one school-age child.

However, lawmakers promise that they will take into account all the unfortunate experience of the past, and most controversial issues will be left at the discretion of the local administration.

The main theses of the new decree on the establishment of requirements for students' clothing:

- the shape and color of the form are established by the council of the educational institution, the parent committee and the board of trustees;

- each school will establish several types of clothes: ceremonial, sports and everyday;

- the school uniform must be executed in a business style and be of a secular nature;

- the pupil's clothing must meet all sanitary and epidemiological requirements;

- in educational institutions will limit the possibility of wearing things with large fittings, the symbolism of informal youth movements, inscriptions and drawings that propagate antisocial and unlawful behavior.

Whether the introduction of the school form will become a correct step will be shown only by time.
