Print head for printer

Inkjet printers have received distribution from the American company Hewlett-Packard, although the Japanese specialists (Epson, Canon) also worked on the development. The printhead (PG) is the most complex and expensive device. By the position and duration of its operation, printers can be conditionally divided into three large groups.

Types and features

  • GHG in the cartridge. As an example - the print head of HP. In this performance, it works out the only resource for refilling the cartridge by the manufacturer and burns out when the ink runs out.
  • Printers with ink cartridges. The SG in them is removable and serves as an expendable material (CANON printhead, for example). The cost of producing such ink cartridges is much lower, and the cost of the most removable and replaceable PG at a price is 40-80% of the cost of the printer. Printheads of this type are more durable than the first ones.
  • Printers with ink cartridges and PG are not removable, separately printing, which itself does not belong to consumables (for example, Epson). These heads are considered particularly durable and designed to work until the end of the life of the printer.

Such a concentration of technological innovations of the main ink-jet mechanism led to the fact that the cartridges in the cheapest models are estimated at almost half the cost of the printer, which is absolutely unprofitable for intensive use of the product. In order to somehow reduce costs, it is necessary to master the procedure for refilling cartridges.

The device of ink-jet cartridges

In any printer, the printing unit consists of two parts:

- ink reservoir;

- a capillary system, supplying ink to the nozzles, and from there, "firing" them on paper.

An ink tank in black and almost all color cartridges is filled with an absorbent sponge (foam rubber). For refilling this is the most suitable execution. In other models ink retention occurs due to the difference in pressure - external and internal. In some cases, this is due to the presence of a special bag of air.

The print head is the most important part of the unit. Modern cartridges are often equipped with built-in chips that control the consumption of ink to combat their reuse.

The ink for them is also different. Manufacturers argue, for each model of the printer comes its own, precisely defined type. However, in recent years, ink has already been sold (often large containers), suitable, according to the sellers, to different models of inkjet printers.

They are referred to the group of standard (simple) and they are suitable for printing simple text, with low resolutions. There are also specialty ink for high-quality printing, but they are expensive, and they are not suitable for refilling in handicrafts.

The print head will work longer if the cartridge is pre-cleaned and rinsed thoroughly when refilling with ink from an original manufacturer. For this, distilled water or special liquids that do not contain alkali are used. If the type of ink does not change during refueling, it is recommended not to wait for the emptying of the cartridge and refuel it in a timely manner.
