How many republics are there in the Russian Federation at the moment?

How many republics, regions, territories and autonomous regions in the Russian Federation ? This question can be answered by the Constitution, where each region and territory is prescribed, and where amendments are also made in accordance with the changes when new areas appear or several entities are united into one.

Republics of the Russian Federation

The Russian Federation is a state consisting of equal subjects, which includes regions, territories, republics, autonomous regions and autonomous regions, and cities of federal significance.

At the moment in Russia there are 85 subjects, each of which has its own legislation and federal bodies, as well as its constitution or charter.

Russia: The Republic of Komi

About each republic you can tell your story, describe its significance for Russia. The Republic of Komi is located in the north-west of the country, was established in 1921 as an autonomous region, and the status of the republic was received in 1936.

The capital is the city of Syktyvkar, it has two official languages (Komi and Russian), borders Tyumen, Sverdlovsk, Kirov and Arkhangelsk regions, Perm Krai, and the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug.

One of the features of this republic is its climate, in the south it is moderately continental, and in the north the territory belongs to the Far North, with severe long winter and short summer.

The Republic of Komi is a territory of lakes, there are more than 70 thousand of them. The largest are Sindorskoye Lake, an area of 28.5 km² and Yam lake with an area of 31.1 km ². It is also worth noting that a large area is occupied by swamps, which cover about 7% of the territory.

Republic of Tatarstan

It was stated above how many republics are in the Russian Federation. There are 22 of them, and one of the most economically developed is the Republic of Tatarstan, which is located in the Volga Federal District.

The capital of Tatarstan is Kazan, the state languages: Russian and Tatar.

The republic is located in the European part of the country and borders with such subjects of the Russian Federation as Samara, Orenburg, Kirov and Ulyanovsk regions, republics of Bashkortostan, Mari El, Udmurtia and Chuvashia.

In Tatarstan, the most developed industrial complex and such industries as oil production and processing, engineering and metalworking, chemistry and petrochemistry, as well as the agricultural sector, which plays an economically important role.

Russia: The Republic of Bashkortostan

The subject of the Russian Federation, which is part of the Volga Federal District, is located in the eastern European part of Russia on the slope of the Ural Mountains. Borders with the Perm region, the Orenburg region, the Republic of Tatarstan and Udmurtia, as well as with the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions.

The capital of Bashkortostan is the city of Ufa, the official languages are Russian and Bashkir.

Bashkortostan is a republic with a rich nature, in fact 40% of its territory is occupied by forests, there are 3 reserves, 5 national parks, more than 20 reserves and more than 100 natural monuments scattered throughout the republic.

Bashkortostan is one of the most developed regions of Russia, where the industrial complex is one of the leading places in oil production and refining, the production of machines and units (Ka-31 helicopter, DT-30 all-terrain vehicle, and a turbojet engine for fighters).

Republic of Crimea

So, how many republics are there in the Russian Federation, and why does the list include the republic of Crimea, which used to be considered part of the territory of Ukraine?

In 2014, following a referendum in which a large part of the population voted to join Russia, a new republic of Crimea was established, which is located on the peninsula of the same name.

The capital of the republic is the city of Simferopol, three official languages are recognized: Russian, Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar.

The Republic of Crimea borders with the Kherson region, which is part of Ukraine, and in the west, south and north-east it is washed by the seas: the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, and has a maritime border with Krasnodar Krai.

Crimea is a republic where more than 700 hotels and sanatorium establishments are located in different cities, which annually receive millions of tourists (Yalta, Simferopol, Evpatoria, Feodosia, Alushta).

The economy, in addition to tourism, is developing in the direction of construction, agriculture and health.
