Interesting places in Minsk

Minsk is a city where you go everywhere, you will find yourself in an amazing place. There is a huge number of fountains and monuments, historical buildings and new buildings that deserve no less attention, parks and squares, estates and castles. What can I say, even if the buildings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the KGB are architectural monuments.

If you ask the townspeople to say which beautiful places in Minsk they are advised to visit, then two options are possible: either people will become confused or begin to enumerate everything. After all, the city itself is a tourist attraction, so it is difficult to single out just a few out of a hundred.

Gates of the city

Perhaps, in every city there is a tourist attraction, symbolizing the gate. Minsk is not an exception. True, here the gate is two identical residential buildings that were built in 1953. On each there are eleven high-rise towers. The style of the gates of the city is Stalinist classicism. On the upper tiers of each structure there are sculptures of Red Army soldiers, workers and peasants, the height of each reaches 3.5 meters.

On one of the towers are the watches, which are the largest in the country. The dial in diameter reaches more than 3.5 meters. The clock itself is more than a hundred years old. They were delivered to Byelorussia from Germany during the Great Patriotic War. On the second tower instead of the clock there is the same coat of arms of the BSSR.

The gates of the city were located on the station square.

Unusual library-museum

The National Library of Belarus appeared only ten years ago. Looking at it, you can not immediately understand what is before you. The building is made in a futuristic style and resembles a complex geometric figure in the form of a diamond. The height of the library is as much as 73.6 meters, which is equal to 23 floors. The weight of the building without books is 115 thousand tons. The total building area is 19.5 thousand square meters.

The facade of the library is made of materials such as heat-reflecting mirror glass and aluminum structures. The shape of the diamond is chosen for a reason. It is a symbol that means human knowledge. A special technology for building a structure allows you to create a mode necessary for the preservation of books.

At the very top of the library there is an observation deck with a panoramic view of the city. Below are located reading rooms, which occupy three floors. From each there is an exit to a beautiful garden. The National Library of Belarus can simultaneously accommodate up to 14 million copies of books. Before the main entrance to the building stands a monument to Francis Skaryna, and on the opposite side the alley is broken. Great people of Belarus are immortalized in the sphere of culture, politics and science.

During the sightseeing tour you can get acquainted with the grandiose system of storage, transportation and sorting of books and an electronic catalog. And also you can see rare specimens, which are more than a hundred years old.

Homestead in Loshitsa

If you want to feel the spirit of antiquity, then you should go to Loshitsa. It is here that the famous homonymous park and manor complex is situated, which belongs to the monuments of art of the 18th century. Originally there was a small manor Loshitsa. But in the second half of the 18th century, Stanislav Prushinsky - cavalier of the Polish orders, rebuilt it and turned it into a big residence.

The manor and park complex consists of a large park in which specimens of trees brought from different countries and planted by the owner of the estate Eustace Lubansky are still growing. There are chapels, houses of the watermill economist , buildings of the distillery, farm buildings, brahma, pond and manor house itself, which includes two buildings. The first - a wooden one-story, and the second - a stone two-story.

The Manor Loshitsa has been reconstructed for more than ten years. Now it is again open for visits.

All the interesting places in Minsk are decorated with sculptures. Their number is much higher than the number of fountains. Among the monuments to famous people such as Taras Shevchenko, Francis Skorina, Yanka Kupala, Yakub Kolas, Sumin Budny, Vasily Tyapinsky, Maxim Bogdanovich, Adam Mitskevich, Yazep Drozdovich and so on, there are very interesting, sometimes even unusual.
