Research and Science

Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys is Russia's leading university for the training of professional personnel for the metallurgical and mining industries. The learning process is accompanied by advanced technologies and modern teaching methods. Students participate in solving practical problems, prepare projects for further implementation, conduct research. In the classrooms interactive methods of teaching are actively used, business problems are solved that pursue the goal of developing the skills of students in conditions close to market ones.

In the institute of alloys and steel there are 3 engineering complexes and 50 centers of excellence. In the laboratories joint projects of Russian and foreign scientists are realized, access to work in which is open to students. The research base of the Institute consists of 34 departments, 17 laboratories and 7 self-supporting departments, employing more than 350 specialists.

Priorities of scientific work

Scientific research activities are regulated by the Academic Council, which outlined the priorities of the work:

  • Control.
  • Economy.
  • Metallurgy (high technology in the production, processing of metals, conservation of resources, ecology of industrial activity, certification of metals).
  • Computer science.
  • Material science of alloys, metals of various types (powder, amorphous, technical diamonds, superconducting materials, composite and semiconductor materials, etc.).

The majority of specialists, students and graduates in selected areas choose topics of scientific work. The Institute of Steel and Alloys conducts research and cooperates with leading Russian companies working in the fields of metallurgy and mining, the defense industry, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy companies, instrument-making enterprises and many others.

Permanent partners of MISiS are:

  • JSC Severstal.
  • JSC Izhorskiye Zavody.

Prospects for graduates

The extensive partnership relations of MISA with leading Russian companies allow graduates to count on successful employment after graduation. The Institute of Alloys and Steel organized the Career and Employment Center, where everyone can apply already from the first year. Here you will find full information about current vacancies, internships and job opportunities in partner companies.

Students are provided with Career Days, events on the implementation of business cases, job fairs, meetings with graduates of MISiS, who created their own successful business projects. By the time the diploma is received, most graduates are perfectly oriented in the specificity of the future profession, and many already have an invitation to work in a company.

Reviews

The National Research Technological University MISiS received positive feedback from the majority of students for the rich curricula, skillful professional teachers, an excellent material base and modern teaching methods. Many noted the comfortable living conditions in the hostel, the presence of several places of food at different levels. Students talk about the rich social life, a large number of additional educational opportunities in the form of lectures, seminars, courses.

Not without some share of negativity. Such reviews describe the high prices for education. It is noted that studying at a university is rather complicated, and only 50% of students are often left to graduate groups. Many share their impressions of how easy it is to enter the Institute of Steel and Alloys (faculties sometimes experience shortage of entrants), but this does not mean that it will be easy to learn. According to students' observations, the institute is very large, which led to high bureaucratization and very slow resolution of issues with retake of examinations, tests.

Nevertheless, most students are sure: if you want to study, make a career, get knowledge, then it's worth entering the Institute of Steel and Alloys (Moscow). Faculties and departments are very different here, the university gives a high level of knowledge, and the exactness of teachers will help to master them in full.

Address
