How to prepare for the winter a very tasty jam of rowan

Jam from rowan - a simple and useful harvest for the winter. To make it under the power of any hostess, especially since the berry is cheap enough or it can be collected independently from trees that grow in the forest or in the suburban areas. Jam from a mountain ash - a classic recipe

The only drawback of the berry is that it is extremely acidic, so it should be collected after the first frosts, then much less sugar will be left for the preparation. And for cooking you will need:

  • Kilogram of mountain ash;
  • 300 ml of clean filtered water;
  • Kilogram of granulated sugar.

To get rid of the possible bitterness, wash the berry, and after soak it for a day in plain water. Go through and blanch in boiling water for 10 minutes. Drain the liquid, put the berries in a basin or a pan for cooking. From the specified amount of water and sugar, cook the syrup, strain, pour into the mountain ash and cook for a quarter of an hour. Then the jam from the ashberry should be infused for half a day, and only after that you can bring it to readiness. Check it out simply - scoop some liquid, pour onto a flat plate and see if it spreads, cook a little more, if not - you can remove it from the plate and pack it on cans.

Jam from the mountain ash: a recipe with apples

For half a kilogram of berries you will need:

  • 1 or slightly more than a kilogram of granulated sugar;
  • Half a kilo of sweet apples;
  • 400 ml of clean drinking water.

Wash the berries, if necessary, soak for a day, so that bitterness is gone, and after boiling them in boiling water for 10 minutes. Apples peel, cut into slices or cubes, as you prefer. Blanch them in hot water for a couple of minutes. Cook the sugar syrup from the amount of ingredients specified in the recipe, let it simmer a little, and then dip the berry and apples into it at the same time. Cook the jam from the mountain ash for 8-10 minutes, then let stand for 10-12 hours, and boil again for no more than a quarter of an hour. Finish - spread on sterilized jars, roll them up and put them in storage in a cold and dark place.

Jam from red mountain ash: a recipe with honey

Such a preparation is not only very tasty, but also extremely useful for health. In winter, you can dilute a spoonful of jam in warm water and drink - a dose of vitamins and nutrients contained in berries and honey, will support your immunity and will not give you a cold. Prepare:

  • Half a kilogram of honey;
  • 2 cups of simple filtered water;
  • Kilogram of frozen red mountain ash.

Put berries in cold water and let them thaw. Honey combine with water and boil, then in the solution put the mountain ash and cook until done. It is not necessary to boil again, this jam is made in one step. It's so simple and fast you can replenish the stocks of delicious homemade preparations for the winter - stewed fruit or fruit drinks prepared from mountain ash, will be an excellent alternative to juices from packs. Just like any other jam, rowan can be used for filling pies or rolls.
