How to make fuel pellets by yourself at home

During a constant increase in energy prices, most owners of holiday homes and private homes are trying to find an alternative to this source of heat. Biofuel is in demand in the countries of America, Europe and Asia. Especially popular are fuel pellets. The manufacture of this heat source at home significantly reduces costs during the heating season. It's not so difficult to make pellets by yourself. Granules of this material are produced by technological processing of agricultural waste, wood production and natural fuel.

Benefits

  • The main advantage of these pellets is a very high heat transfer in comparison with other used natural fuels. As a result, this source of heat is considered very popular nowadays.
  • These pellets do not occupy a large area due to their low weight and very high density. For example, homemade pellets for heating a house with an area of 180 m² occupy about 4.5 m². This is an important advantage of this material.
  • Such fuel pellets in their composition do not contain dust and spores.
  • The made pellets with their own hands, if properly stored, do not ignite, as a result of which they are fireproof.
  • In the production of this environmentally friendly fuel, chemical and other substances harmful to human health are not used. Manufactured pellets by their own hands are safe for children and allergy sufferers. It is quite possible to store them in a dwelling.
  • When using pellets for heating private houses, the formation of ash and carbon dioxide decreases compared to coal. And significantly reduced financial costs for heating the living quarters and households. Buildings, because the fuel pellets have a constant density, high thermal conductivity.

The production of pellets by their own hands and their use for heating private homes among our compatriots is increasingly finding followers. To create fuel pellets at home, straw, peat, cereal and wood waste, chicken manure, sunflower husk are used. Basically, bark, sawdust, chips and agricultural waste are used for this.

Basics of production

  • In order to make pellets with their own hands, it is necessary to crush the raw material initially from a large crusher. Small pieces of the starting material should be obtained, which, as a result, will be cleaned and dried quickly and qualitatively.
  • Ultimately, the moisture content of raw materials should not be more than 15%, otherwise it is poorly compressed.
  • Then the starting material must be ground with a fine grinder. According to technological standards, quality raw materials should not be more than 2 mm. Sliver, sawdust and fibrous chips are ground with a hammer mill.
  • If the moisture content of the material is below 8%, steam is processed to 12%. For the softwood wood used, water is added.
  • Fuel pellets of pellets are pressed with a cylindrical or flat matrix. The press can be purchased for home production. Its power and configuration are selected at will.
  • After pressing, the finished granules are cooled and dried. The resulting products are stored in large canvas or paper bags of 20 kg.

Manufactured pellets with their own hands in the proposed way allow you to stock up fuel material for the entire heating season.
