Sprouting wheat is the right way to get a valuable food product

Already in those ancient times it was noticed that the germination of wheat allows you to get a specific product, the use of which not only saturates the person, but also has medicinal properties. In our time, all these "instinctive" guesses of our ancestors were fully confirmed by scientific research. To germinate wheat is quite easy and cheap. Its nutritional value is multiplied. Self-germinating wheat involves the presence of such equipment: glass jars, trays, paper towels, thin cloth and rubber bands.

Wheat seeds germinate at room temperature. Most often, the seeds are germinated in the kitchen. Wheat for germination is suitable for any, both soft and hard varieties. For the production of germs, only mature, whole and undamaged grains are suitable. First of all, the seeds are washed under a stream of running water. A sieve should be used for this procedure. Germination of wheat begins with soaking seeds in water (up to 25 ° C) at night. The volume of water should exceed the volume of grains by four times. The next stage is draining the water and rinsing the seeds. Prepared seeds are placed in trays for or glass jars. Sprouted seeds are used in food after reaching 1-1.5 cm sprouts. Such sprouts impart a fresh flavor and density to any salads, stews and soups. They can be stewed and fried in vegetable oil.

Germination of wheat in trays:

1. Prepared seeds are poured on a damp paper towel, folded in several layers on the bottom of the tray and covered with moist paper on top, also folded into several layers. The filled tray is placed in a dark and warm, ventilated cabinet.

2. The paper towel is periodically wetted in order to prevent the seeds from drying out.

3. After germination of seeds, the upper paper towel is removed, and the lower one is kept constantly in a wet state until the sprouts reach the desired length. For easy planting of green shoots, the trays are exposed on the windowsill for a couple of days.

This method is not very suitable for wheat, so it is better to germinate it in another way, shown below.

Germination of wheat in glass jars:

1. The soaked seeds are poured into a jar and covered with a thin cloth. The fabric is fixed to the jar with the help of a rubber band.

2. The can is stacked on its side, with its bottom slightly raised. This position of the dishes makes drainage easier. The can is placed in a ventilated cabinet or other dark place with good ventilation.

3. At least once a day, the seeds are wetted with water, for which they remove the tissue and pour 250 ml of water into the jar. Wheat germinates at 2-3 times wetting a day best.

4. Fixing the fabric on the neck, a jar of water and seeds is shaken slightly, and the water is drained through the fabric.

5. For easy planting of sprouts, dishes with them are exposed for one or two days on the windowsill.

6. Growth of sprouts can be stopped by placing banks in the refrigerator.

The best air temperature for seed germination is 22-24 ° C. Overgrown (2-3 cm) and green sprouts are not used for food. In the refrigerator, wheat germs are stored for no more than two days. Sprouted wheat is used for food after rinsing (at least three times) under running water and drying. Rinsing is done to remove the specific smell of germinated seeds.

What is inadmissible in the germination of seeds :

1. Reuse water used for washing.

2. Use aluminum utensils for germinating seeds and preparing dishes from them.

3. Use a coffee grinder to grind the seeds.

4. Eat darkened wheat germ.

5. Bring to boiling water and milk, used for cooking dishes from wheat sprouts.
