About the process
Detailed instructions: how to make a video from GIF
To export a fragment of the movie as a sequence of static images, a program called VirtualDub is suitable for us. Using the "Ctrl + O" keyboard shortcut, open the video in the application and move the mouse pointer to the beginning of the clip, which is intended for the subsequent transformation into an animation.
Next, to answer the question about how to make a video from GIF, click on the button "Mark in" located under the player's window, we indicate the beginning for the selected area. In this case, the ending of the fragment, the work with the frames of which is envisaged, is marked with the "Mark out" button.
Customize
Choose the image format, as well as the location in which they will be saved. Next, we will use the version of Photoshop, which is able to import frames of video files as layers, and this is exactly what we need. In the next step, go to the "File" menu, then go to the "Import" group, use the "Video Frames" function. Open the dialog box, select the file for later processing.
Partial processing
In case you do not need to re-arrange the entire clip in the animation format, you should enable the Selected Range function by going to the import settings. Select on the timeline, which is located under the preview, a fragment intended for import into Photoshop.
If you are a user of an earlier version of the graphics editor, you need to load frames that have been manually saved using the video editor. Using the combination "Ctrl + O" open the first of the pictures. If the creation of GIF from the video involves getting an animation consisting of a large number of frames, you can facilitate the process of assembling into a single file a short action record.
For this purpose, load one more saved frame into the editor and click on the button "New action" in the "Actions" panel. Immediately after the start of the recording of the necessary sequence of actions, select the contents of frame number 2 with the "Ctrl + A" key combination, copy it with the "Ctrl + C" keys. Go to the window with the first image and insert a new layer into it, using the keys "Ctrl + V".
Close the file with frame number 2 and stop the recording of the action with the button "Stop recording". In order to insert the required frame into the selected file as a layer using the created sequence, open the next picture in the queue in Photoshop, select the name of the action and click on the "Play" button.
If the size of the saved frames is too large, after the loading of the layers is finished, we cut off the excess using the "Crop" tool, or change the file size by the "Image Size" function in the "Image" menu. Create animation frames. For this purpose, turn off all the layers except for the background layer and open the "Animation" palette with the "Window Menu" function.
Using the button that duplicates the selected frames, create another frame in the palette. The required button is on the bottom of the specified palette, and it looks like a landscape sheet, with one corner bent. On the layers palette, enable the visibility of the next image to be added to the animation. Similarly, we add all the other images to the GIF-file.
To adjust the playback speed, select all the content in the animation palette by clicking on the first and last frame with the Shift key pressed. Click on the arrow that you can find in the bottom area of any frame and set the desired duration.
We save the animation with the "Save as Web" function, which is located in the "File" menu. You also need to select GIF in the list of available formats. Animation is ready, you can enjoy it.
