How to make a flower from polymer clay? A small lesson of exquisite craftsmanship

All the girls want to look beautiful and irresistible. In this they usually, except for stylish clothes, help all sorts of jewelry, such, for example, as a flower from polymer clay. To date, very popular jewelry, made with their own hands of a polymer substance. This is such an amazing material (also called "thermoplastic"), which is very elastic, and in the end it is also very strong. If polymer clay is handled by hand, the flowers from which are obtained are very beautiful, then it is necessary to take into account some features of working with it. There are two types of plastics: baked and drying clay. You can choose any, it all depends on your desire and the type of work that you want to accomplish.

In order for us to successfully make a flower from polymer clay, we suggest using baked thermoplastic. Just note some of its properties and precautions when working with such clay:

• Elastic and soft in the hands;
• Has different shades of colors;
• When baking, a temperature of at least 130-140 degrees Celsius is required for 30 minutes if the product is more than 1 mm thick;
• When heat treatment emits toxic substances, so in order to avoid poisoning it is necessary to bake the decoration strictly in the container;
• When baked, clay can be combined with other heat-resistant materials;
• It is painted in additional colors and lacquered the product after it has stayed in the oven.

In principle, molding flowers from polymer clay is not very difficult. Most likely, it requires skill in the mechanics of the hands and neatness. That flower of polymer clay, which we propose to make, will be simple and elegant. It is a small brooch made in ethnic style, which is decorated with small glass beads for pearls.

For our work we will need:

• Baked polymer white clay;
• Acrylic colors (the choice of color is yours);
• A fastener pin;
• Pearl beads made of heat-resistant matt white glass;
• Two-component adhesive;
• A rolling pin specially designed for working with thermoplastic;
• Toothpicks;
• clear nail polish.

So, we start to produce a brooch in the form of an ethnic flower made from baked polymer clay.

At the very beginning of our work, we need to make a smooth ball of our thermoplastic. This will be the core of the flower, the size of which we propose to determine at your discretion.

Then you need to make another ball, which should be rolled out with a rolling pin so that the thickness of the disc is about 2-3 mm. This is the base of the flower. Place the original ball on top of the disc. Lightly press down a small structure, but only from below, from the side of the disc.

Now spread around the ball bead-pearl, slightly pressing them into the clay.

Then take a small piece of material, roll it into a thin rope and form a flower petal. Then attach it neatly to the base with a toothpick. It is necessary to do so, as it is shown in the figure.

The next stage will be slightly dented with a toothpick on the petals. It must be done carefully so as not to deform the very configuration of the parts.

Small balls can add decor between the petals of our flower. However, this is most convenient after you attach the fastener to the back of the future brooch. To do this, use two-component glue and two balls of polymer clay.

Our product is ready for baking in the oven, where it will need to be held at a temperature of 130-150 degrees Celsius for half an hour.

Then, after the artwork has cooled, it should be painted in the right color with acrylic paints and allowed to dry in the fresh air. The finishing touch is varnishing. It is necessary to take a clear lacquer and carefully apply a brooch. Again let it air dry.
