Rose from metal by own hands: detailed master-class

Flowers at all times were one of the main gifts for women. And how to make it so that the bouquet will be remembered for a long time? A rose made of metal for this purpose will do just fine. Yes, and please its owner such a flower will be much longer than usual.

A metal rose is not an easy article. Its creation requires special tools and materials, increased security measures and a specially equipped workplace. But the result obtained at the end of the labors will surpass all expectations.

We bring to your attention a master class called "The Rose of Metal with Your Own Hands". Photos are attached to each stage.

List of tools and materials

Tools for making metal roses from metal:

  • Bulgarian;
  • Angle grinder;
  • Two types of discs for the machine - grinding and cutting;
  • drill;
  • Drills for working with metal diameters up to a centimeter;
  • Gas heater;
  • Pliers, round-nosed pliers, long-nose pliers;
  • Pliers;
  • Nippers;
  • file;
  • anvil;
  • a hammer;
  • A felt-tip pen;
  • welding machine.

Necessary materials for the manufacture of such crafts as a rose from metal, with their own hands (dimensions are given for a particular master class):

  • A metal rod with a diameter of approximately 8-12 mm (from which the stem of our rose is made);
  • Sheet metal, it is better to take a thickness of half a centimeter (also suitable and automotive, for example, from the hood);
  • Engine oil not worked, about 400 grams.

Rose of metal with your own hands: drawings of petals

From the metal sheet, cut a minimum of four squares measuring 10x10 cm, to make the rose blossom, prepare a larger number of squares.

On the squares, draw the rose petals, and on one of them draw a figure similar to the wind rose. This square will serve as a preparation for the sepals of our roses. To make the product look more natural, do not try to achieve an ideal symmetry.

Using a grinder or a grinder, cut out the petals of our rose, but do not cut it to the end, i.e. Not up to the center, as in the photo.

Now we need to flatten the endings of the blanks of the rose petals, the sepals and the leaves of the stem. For this we need an anvil and a hammer. Light strokes of the hammer spit the ends of the blanks. Then, using the back of the hammer, we apply the texture of the leaves. It is enough to do this on the one hand.

If it is necessary to make the metal rod shorter, use the Bulgarian. Usually the length of the stem is from 40 to 50 centimeters. But at will, you can do more or less.

Next, you need to make holes for the stem in the blanks of the petals that we cut out. This can be done in two ways - by drilling or welding.

Option 1 - work with a drill

Drill the drill hole clearly in the center. Its size should be equal to the diameter of the metal rod that serves as the stem. Remember that the rod should fit tightly into the drilled hole. So it will be easier to weld it. If the diameter of the selected stem did not coincide with the size of the hole (it turned out to be slightly smaller), then simply drill a few more holes close together so that they join into one that will be of the correct diameter.

Option 2 - work with the welding machine

Having brought the electrode to the middle of the petal, set the arc on fire. Electrode a thickness of about three millimeters pressed into the metal, threading it through and through. The current value should be set to 100 A. The hole will be burned easily, so be careful not to make it larger than the diameter of the rose leg.

To properly weld and do not lose the strength of our design, the holes should not be made ideally round, as it requires a minimum of 50% contact. To control the process from time to time, attach the stem to the hole.

Rose from metal by own hands: the scheme of giving the petals a form

From one end of the rod (the legs of the rose), step back a couple of centimeters and put a piece of petals on it. Each new layer must be positioned so that they form a cross. Attach each ball in turn one by one. It is better to melt the stem better than the petals, since their metal burns very quickly. Pull the lower petals down.

Now you can start working on shaping the petals:

  • Turn on the gas heater and heat it with even petals;
  • With the help of pliers or round-nosed pliers, bend inward two central petals;
  • The remaining fold around the first two;
  • When all the petals are connected, slightly bend the edges of each.

Leaves for roses

The rose will not be complete unless you attach leaflets to it.

Operating procedure:

  1. Draw a leaf layout on a sheet of metal.
  2. Cut out the leaves using the Bulgarian.
  3. Make small incisions along the outline of each sheet.
  4. Give them a natural, slightly wavy shape.
  5. Prepare the finished leaves for the stem.

A metal rose is ready. Now it can be decorated with spikes, which are also cut out in the form of triangles from a sheet of metal and are welded to the stem.

Anticorrosion treatment

In order to prevent the metal artifact from deteriorating over time, it must be treated with an anti-corrosive agent. This can be varnish, spraying, paint.

Another option is engine oil. Before applying it, the rose must be heated. The oil should be treated with all the details of the craft, after which the flower is again exposed to fire to remove excess.

Remember that all work is best done either outdoors or in a specially equipped room, which is well ventilated. And most importantly - do not forget about safety when working with metal.
