How to install the platbands?

Doing repairs in our apartment, we sometimes miss the little things, but without them the overall impression of the work done is a little lost. This primarily concerns the design of the doorway or the replacement of windows. Even if you bought beautiful doors, but did not finish the work, leaving the clypeus installation for later, the impression of novelty is immediately lost. Unclosed opening gives the room a slovenly look. But you can install the platbands with your own hands. It's not as difficult as it might seem at first glance.

In the shops, the choice is now very large, many different materials are presented. Platbands made of wood or their plastic counterparts do not surprise anyone. But there is an even simpler option: to purchase a product made of polystyrene foam. If you decide to install the platbands with your own hands, then first of all pay attention to the walls. If they are bearing, then it is difficult to drive nails into them. Therefore, it is better to buy narrow strips and carefully fix them on the box. There are no special requirements for the material here. For wooden doors, both natural material and plastic are often used.

You can install the window frames yourself using the same technology or use the option in which the fastening is made using clips. This method is good for installing plastic. Closing slopes, use a razor blade, which consists of two parts. First, fix the lower strip, and then the cover is snapped onto it. This option is also good because it is possible to close the wires inside the box. If there is no way to nail the platbands, then they can simply be glued. True, it is rather a one-time option. Removing them once, the second time in place will not stick.

Variants of possible installation assume a different angle of joining of horizontal and vertical parts. Mounting the platbands with your own hands, you can use a simplified scheme. In this version, the horizontal and vertical are connected at an angle of 90 degrees. It's easier to make a dock if the top bar is two width thicker than the opening. Then the side parts abut it. You can do the opposite and install the casing in such a way that the vertical sides will be larger, while the horizontal bar rests against them.

In the classic version, the platbands are filed under 45 degrees. The junction is obtained more neat. It is better to buy a special tool for this, but you can saw off the platbands on the line that you put in advance, before cutting. The dimensions of the strips should exceed the length of the opening by the width of the latch.

Sometimes, when driving past such a stall, rejoice that we still have such craftsmen. Products are simply flying, light and airy. I want to go to such a house and shake hands with the owner.

Whichever material you select, on whatever method you stop, by assembling the platbands with your own hands, you transform the entire opening. Therefore, preparing for repair, try to plan in advance the work and prepare the material, then you do not have to leave the work unfinished.
