How to increase the screen resolution and choose the device with the optimal resolution

Now we will try to understand how to increase the screen resolution, what this concept is, how it is defined in the TVs and PCs that are familiar to us.

What is called screen resolution?

The resolution of the display is the most important characteristic of any digital device, which denotes the density of the location of pixels per unit of screen area. In order to learn how to adjust the screen resolution, you need to first understand what lies behind this concept, so let's start with the theory. Any image on a digital medium consists of pixels - pixels. They can be noticeable when you look closely at the TV screen, phone and other equipment. It's small bulbs - pixels - and make up the image in such a way that it looks holistic, not grainy or fragmented. Pixels on the device also have individual characteristics, for example, intensity and color.
The television signal is divided into lines. For each digital system, there are standard line volumes, for example, the NTSC system transmits 525 lines. It should be taken into account that certain lines work exclusively for the transmission of signaling signals.

Basic resolutions of TV screens

  • The first standard resolution is 720p. Has a frame rate from 50 to 60 Hertz, progressive scan and 16: 9 frame format.
  • For 720p follows 1080i. This resolution is caused by interlacing. 1920 x 1080 pixels, has also a framing frequency from 50 to 60, which allows the screen with this resolution to show from 25 to 30 frames per second.
  • And the last - 1080r. This resolution has a pixel density of 1920 x 1080, a progressive scan and a 16: 9 frame format with a frame rate of up to 60 Hertz.

Standard resolution for PC and laptop monitors

  • Typically, a 19-inch screen has a pixel ratio of 1280 x 1024.
  • The 20-inch screen is 1600 x 1200 pixels.
  • The 22-inch screen is already considered widescreen, since it has a resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels.
  • The 24-inch screen is also considered widescreen.

How to increase the screen resolution on your computer

To change the resolution in Windows, first enter the "Screen Resolution" section. To do this, click on the "Start" button, then select the "Control Panel" cell by entering the "Appearance and Personalization" section, activate the configuration command. If you are interested in Windows 7 screen resolution, then the above step will suit you. In other systems, the algorithm may change slightly. However, we go further. The second step is to directly select the desired resolution and save the settings. An important note to computer owners who are asking how to increase the screen resolution in Windows: after setting the screen resolution settings, the monitor goes off for a few seconds. It is also worth noting that the applied changes remain the same for all PC users.

Approximately the same manipulations are performed to increase the resolution on other electronic devices. For example, adjust the resolution for the webcam. All Skype users tend to have better communication during the negotiations. Therefore, the quality of the image transmitted by the webcam is very important. First, open the settings menu for your camera. It must be installed together with the drivers of the electronic device. In the settings section, select the desired camera settings and save them.

Practical tips for choosing the best TV

Often, buyers choose the TV with the lowest resolution in order to eliminate the risk of interference and any errors in the network, because it is believed that a small resolution is more resistant to breakdowns. In fact, such a judgment is erroneous. Problems with the network may arise if, for example, the performance of the technical part does not correspond to the resolution of the matrix. The reason for poor image quality is usually the internal functional complex of signal processing settings. So we discussed the question of how to increase the screen resolution, and described the essence of this concept for various devices.
