How to Draw Fire: Some Useful Tips

Probably, there is no such artist who would not have dreamed that his paintings looked from the side, just like living ones. Despite the seeming complexity, this effect is quite achievable, you only need to master a few skills and stock up the necessary tools for drawing. Consider a detailed instruction on how to draw fire on paper.

What you need to know a beginner artist

To recreate on paper the image of objects made by a human hand will not be difficult for any artist. But it is not so easy to depict the phenomena of nature (wind, rain, waves, fire). It is important not just to draw them, but to make them "move" on paper, so that they look real.

Fire is truly a miraculous phenomenon, which you can watch endlessly. It is not difficult to draw it. If the picture is accurate color palette, adding a bit of dynamism to the languages of the flame, then the drawn fire will also look for a long time without stopping.

Draw a flame with a pencil

When starting to work, you need to have at your fingertips a standard sheet of paper, a simple pencil (preferably with a soft lead), an eraser, brushes and paints (if desired). Consider several ways how to draw fire in pencil step by step.

Progress

  1. Look at the pictures and drawings of the fire, and then light the match and look at its movement in space (or put a burning candle in front of you and draw a flame from nature). When you fully imagine your own drawing, in thin lines on paper, indicate the contours (height and width) of the fire. Brush the strokes with light movements and almost transparent lines to later remove these clues unnoticeably. Then draw an oval on the selected territory, making the upper part narrow, and the lower one - the wider one. Remember, the main thing is not how to draw fire, but how you will end up with it.
  2. Proceed to the image of the flames. Draw outlines, one flame language should be slightly larger than the others. The central part from above must be stratified: there should be one smaller fire sign on the left, and two (also of different sizes) on the right. Naturally, the foreground does not remain empty either. Draw a couple of lights here. Place their location and size determine yourself.
  3. Continuing with a large area of flame, draw about ten wavy lines (bottom to top). To each such line draw another one - smaller and more direct. Accordingly, in smaller flames they will be smaller. In the end, after figuring out how to draw fire, gently paint the space between the two lines.
  4. Erase your erasers, drawn at the very beginning, with the eraser. Make a fire at the base and at the tips of the tongues. Smoke is easily recreated with a pencil. Just paint the desired areas, and then shade them with an eraser or cotton wool. The contours can be boldly traced in bold lines.
  5. Draw sparks. To do this, paint a couple of strokes over the fire. At the end of the lesson, how to draw a fire with a pencil, above each flame language, draw several lights at a different distance from the main petal.

Drawing a flame with paints

The scheme for creating fire with paint is about the same as pencil. But in this case, the work begins with an image of the general background, which is important for the drawings inks. Then you can proceed to the central composition, clearly determining which colors and shades are most acceptable here.

Dipping the brush into the dark-red paint, make a spot where the future flame will blaze. From it, moving from the bottom up, apply small strokes - fire tongues. Their number will dictate to you your own imagination, imagination and initial knowledge how to draw fire.

On the painted layer, apply again the red paint, but it is already lighter. Perform similar actions with yellow and orange colors. Do not put shades one on another, otherwise everything will merge into a bright mess, and the skill, designed to "revive" the picture, will be lost. Do it so that all the shades are clearly visible on the general background.

Following your imagination, add a little purple or blue tinge to the overall composition. Your drawing is ready! Good luck in your work!
