How to create a ribbon foundation yourself?

When erecting a single-storey or low-rise building, as well as a garage or a bath, before commencing construction work, it is possible to make a foundation with its own hands, which will become a reliable basis for bearing walls. This kind of foundation is fairly simple, and therefore does not require the use of special calculations during design, so in this situation it is possible not to be wasted on paying for the services of professional builders.

Definition : When creating a band foundation with your own hands, you need to first study the soil layers located on the site of the construction of a future low-rise building. The foundation itself is built on the layers of dense ground and represents the underground part of the structure, which is capable of perceiving loads from the bearing walls, and then transfer them to the base of the structure. Its upper plane, where elevated parts of the structure are erected, is usually called the surface, and the lower part is called the base of the structure.

By erecting a shallow band foundation with your own hands, you will have to create a reliable reinforced concrete strip that runs along the entire perimeter of the structure. Such a tape must be laid under all external and internal walls of the building so that the cross-sectional shape remains the same throughout the perimeter.

Features : As a rule, the ribbon foundation with their own hands is built according to a fairly simple technology. However, for such a foundation of the building is characterized by increased labor intensity, the need to use a crane, as well as a significant consumption of material - a large amount of formwork and a significant amount of concrete. If you create a foundation foundation of blocks, you can save time, because in this situation, the blocks are stacked relatively quickly, and builders do not have to wait until the concrete solution dries well.

Steps : In order to build a band foundation by yourself, you need to perform preliminary calculations before it is poured. It is recommended to make a simple estimate, which includes the costs of laying reliable fittings, the purchase of boards for formwork, concrete mortar and the costs of direct construction. If the building is planned to have a warm underground or basement, it is better to use a columnar-ribbon view of the basement, in which individual pillars become an integral part of the structure.

At the first stage, it is necessary to carefully study the soil on the land plot where the construction of the structure is being carried out. If the soil under the future building is loose and dry, then the strip foundation becomes the optimal solution for the builder, and it is already possible to proceed to the marking of the site, performed with simple measuring instruments, as well as pegs and ropes.

Next, according to the breakdown, dig a trench under the foundation under construction, which can be digged and shoveled, saving on attracting specialized equipment, and avoiding additional monetary costs. When the trench is ready, and its depth becomes sufficient for laying the foundation, it is already possible to proceed to the following works. First, the trench is filled with sand, and then - with rubble or gravel, with other suitable building materials. The material used to fill it must be densely packed, and the thickness of the filler should not be less than twenty centimeters.

For the foundation to remain stable and strong for many years, at the time of its erection it is necessary to use reinforcement. After laying the seal, a concrete solution is poured into the formwork, and the thickness of its layer must be at least half a meter. Concrete dries throughout the week, however, before the erection of load-bearing walls, the foundation must be tested for strength.
