How to connect a second hard drive to a computer with IDE and SATA ports
Every owner of a fixed or portable computing system must know how to connect a second hard drive to the computer. It would be a mistake to think that only the employees of the service centers and consultants in the relevant stores should understand this.

How to connect the second hard drive to the computer
On any IDE-hard drive there is necessarily a group of jumpers, allowing you to set the mode of operation of the device. These are M (master), S (slave), and CS (cable select). The latter is only for stubs with 80 cores (against similar 40 wired). If a single cable is already connected to the hard drive, then to attach the second one you need to look at the position of the jumper. So, when the Master mode is on, the second one should be set to Slave. But if there is an "extra" plume, then there are usually no questions about how to connect the second hard drive to the computer: the first one is "hanging" with one hard drive, and on the second one with the other one. The modes selected by jumpers can be arbitrary. Schemes are always indicated on the body of the drive. Sometimes it may be necessary to include the port in the BIOS.
New standard
With the way to connect the second hard drive to a computer equipped with SATA ports, there is no problem. To simplify the life of users, the developers of the standard provided a way to connect "one hard drive - one cable". Thus, it is only necessary to connect the SATA-wire to the hard drive by either side, and the second side to the corresponding free connector on the board. Even budget decisions necessarily contain at least two ports. The key-protrusion is provided here too - it is impossible to connect the "reverse". The only thing that should be paid attention is the 1.5 and 3 GB limitation on some hard drives, which is exposed by the jumpers. It is necessary when connecting a new SATA 2.0 or 3.0 hard drive to the old SATA 1.0 board, which implements an outdated revision of the interface. Usually, the motherboard automatically detects the hard drive without requiring user intervention.
Food
The electrical supply wire from the unit both in the IDE and SATA devices is made in a special form, so it can not be connected incorrectly.
