Now we answer the question - how to check honey? There are several ways. Let's consider some of them.

  1. This method is the simplest of all and it can be done at home or before buying. For analysis, a glass of pure water and a teaspoon of honey are required. If it is falsified - a whitish sediment appears on the bottom, which means that flour or semolina was mixed into it.
  2. Surely you are interested in how to check honey with iodine. This method makes it possible to determine the falsification of starch. To check, you need a solution of honey, for this, half a teaspoon of the product is dissolved in half a cup of warm water and add a drop of iodine. If the color has not changed - before you are a natural product, if the color turns bright blue - you are trying to sell falsified honey with starch. It is better to check the honey immediately before buying than to regret it.
  3. Another fairly simple method is using a chemical pencil. As everyone knows, it changes color when it gets wet. Therefore, with the help of such a pencil it is easy to check whether the honey is diluted with water or not. It is enough to immerse the tip in a mass of honey and look at the reaction, if the pencil has colored - before you is a product that has been diluted with water. It is better to refrain from such a purchase.
  4. Often manufacturers mix chalk in order to increase the mass of marketable honey. Its presence can be easily verified with acetic essence. To do this, in a teaspoon with honey, drip a drop of essence - if bubbles begin to appear, the falsification is in front of you.
  5. It is easy to check the fake with sugar syrup. To do this, scoop up the honey in a spoon and watch how it flows down - if a trickle, and at the same time a pea is formed, the product is normal, if droplets - it was exactly mixed with sugar syrup.
