Despite the fact that the Volga Automobile Plant produced several modifications of the "nine" with different characteristics, the carburetor had one brand - the domestic Solex. Before adjusting the carburetor on the VAZ 2109, it should be carefully cleaned. But it is not necessary to do this (although, provided that there are no different deposits on it). If it is rust or carbon deposits, this element must be washed with a strong remedy. Otherwise, however correctly you are trying to adjust the carburetor, the result from this will be minimal.

What do you need to have for cleaning?

In the course of this operation, we need the following set of tools and materials:

  1. The manual for the car VAZ 2109 (by the way, the carburettor "Solex" scheme is shown in the photo on the right).
  2. Smooth cloth gloves.
  3. A few thin sticks (an ordinary toothpick will come off). Alternatively, you can take a toothbrush. We will clean it carburetor VAZ.

If you have not done carburetor cleaning for a long time, its surface cleaning will not be enough. If the content of deposits is high, it is necessary to disassemble it in parts, and treat each part separately with a can.

About small details

During disassembly, pay special attention to the springs and small cogs. Try to put them in a separate box or number, so that later there are no problems when assembling the carburetor at the end. By analyzing this element, it is necessary to process every detail, even the smallest, from the can. At the same time, all rubber parts must be removed from the carburetor. If they get on them, the solvent can strongly deform them, and they will lose their sealing properties. It is also not recommended to apply a cleaner to plastic elements. They should be isolated from this liquid.

After you have processed all the mechanisms, you need to wait about 10-15 minutes for rust and deposits to partially dissolve. Then the elements are washed under running water. If necessary, you can use a toothpick or toothbrush.

Using a brush or chopsticks, do not try to pick at the valves and openings of the carburetor. Through them air and fuel get, so the dirt that gets there can greatly aggravate the engine and provoke an increased fuel consumption. Such holes are cleaned with compressed air or aerosol. By the way, the remnants of the used cleaner can be used again - this substance has a very long shelf life and practically does not lose its properties for a long time. Further the carburetor is thoroughly dried and after that we proceed to the second part of our repair - adjustment.

How to adjust the carburetor on the VAZ 2109 with your own hands?

The first thing you need to do is float chamber, which controls the level of fuel supply.

Do not attempt to pick at the outlets of the carburettor and valves. These holes supply fuel and air, which are very important for the smooth operation of the engine. Such holes are cleaned with aerosol or compressed air. The liquid cleaner can be reused. Some economical motorists use the cleaner several times.

After the carburetor has been cleaned thoroughly, dry it thoroughly and you can proceed with the adjustment. This procedure is very long and complicated, but it is quite possible to cope with it. First we start the engine and give it an opportunity to work for several minutes. Then turn it off and remove the air filter. Then remove the fuel supply hose. Starting device

But that is not all. How to adjust the carburetor on VAZ 2109 further? After this work, we proceed to configure the launcher. First you need to make sure that its diaphragm is suitable for subsequent operation. It is very simple to do this - unscrew the 4 bolts and remove the cover of the mechanism. If it is deformed or has cracks, it should be replaced with a new one. After this, go to the process of adjusting the starter. First of all, turn the air damper lever so that it has moved to the closed position. Then we heat the rod with a screwdriver.

After that, we measure the gap formed between the wall of the chamber and the flap. It must be checked with the one specified in the documentation of Solex. In order to change the clearance, it is necessary to loosen the lock nut and turn the adjusting screw clockwise or counterclockwise with a screwdriver. Next, measure the throttle valve clearance , which is on the 1st chamber. The received data should as much as possible coincide with normative, which is in the technical documentation. If this gap does not correspond to the norm, we adjust it by rotating the throttle screw.

Adjustment of XX

Everything, now the matter is left for small. We have to do the last stage - idling. Before the beginning of this operation, the engine VAZ 2109 must be re-heated to operating temperature . The carburetor must be installed in its normal place. So, turn off the engine and look at the state of the screw for the quality of the mixture. It should be wrapped and then turned back to 4 turns. Then restart the engine, remove the suction and switch on the high beam with the fan. At the same time, adjust the screw amount of fuel-air mixture.
