How is the rat-trap done by yourself?

Rats and mice are long-time companions of man. And it is not enough pleasant in such neighborhood. They not only spoil a large number of food products, but also carry a variety of diseases. The same plague of medieval cities are entirely due to rats who "carried" a deadly infection across Europe.

Of course, fleas were the direct source of infection, but the role of rodents should not be minimized. Therefore, in every private house there must be a rat-trap. It is relatively easy to make it with your own hands, and this will take quite a bit of time and materials.

What we need

Before you start, you need to get a board measuring 250x150x20 mm, several bars with a cross section of 25x25 mm, as well as a metal mesh with a small hole diameter, tin and nails. The design described by us is safe, when you charge it, you do not harm yourself.

Progress

How is the rat-trapper done? With your hands, you need to nail four bars to the board in a standing position. On top of them screwed or again nailed frame of the same bars. Note that even before you start work, you have to beat all the internal surfaces of the board and bars with tin, as otherwise your construction will not last long.

After that, you need to attach the grid to the boards from the outside, and hang the door from one of the ends. Its dimensions are 150x170x20 mm. Hang the door on a couple of small hinges, and from its outer side attach a small bracket, which can be made from a conventional carpenter's nail.

Just note that before you make a rat-trap yourself, you should imagine the average rodent size in your area. It is from this indicator will depend on all the measurements of the structure.

We make a guard

After that, we will need a steel wire with a diameter of about two millimeters, from which we will make a guard. Its length is about 45 cm. It should be noted that in one part it must leave the rat-cap, while its second part is in it.

At the junction of the two parts you need to make a kind of "step", which the latch will rest against the mesh wall while charging the mechanism. This is the simplest mechanism that a rat-trap can be equipped with. It is not difficult to make it with your own hands.

On the inside of this design, you need to make a small hook, on which the bait will be put on. Outside, there must be an eyelet, which the guard will cling to the bracket on the outside of the door. It is necessary to adjust the whole mechanism so that when you lightly shake the loop slips out of the bracket.

Principle of the work of the castle

Of course, that when the gatehouse is triggered, the door slam shut. But that the rat did not open it, you must additionally provide a lock. For this, a wire with a diameter of four millimeters, which is bent in the shape of the letter "P", is taken. The ends of this piece should be flattened and drilled a couple of holes in them.

With their help, the lock (on the screws) is attached at a distance of about ten centimeters from the rear end. Now, when the door is slammed, a rat-trap will become a reliable prison for a malicious rodent. With her own hands everyone can do it.
