Series VFR originated from race cars RVF750 and RS. But for the first time the V-4 engine was installed on the road bike VF750, which was presented in 1982 and combined a practical design with excellent technical characteristics. VF750 was launched in series production in 1986 and immediately became the standard on which all existing at that time sports and tourist models were equal.

Versatility of the model

By 2010, the Honda VFR 1200 motorcycle began to acquire some features of an off-road vehicle, long-legged suspension was installed on the bike. The seat and the boom bar were adjusted for direct landing and reliable control of the motorcycle. The car became multi-purpose, to the sports-tourist image parameters of a crossover-off-road car were added. Now the bike could leave the smooth asphalt road and follow in any direction across rough terrain.

In 2012, the motorcycle received a new transmission, which included two options: fully automatic gearshift, using a dual clutch, or changing gears in manual mode using the push button control located on the steering wheel. The automatic mode at the same time allowed the intervention of the rider, at any time it was possible to turn off the automation and switch to manual control in fractions of a second.

This modification was also equipped with a traction control system Traction Control System, which was useful when driving on a slippery road. The TCS is guaranteed to cut off the extra torque and leave just as much traction as was required for optimum engine performance.

Also all VFR 1200 motorcycles were fitted with ABS, an anti-lock braking system that allowed to operate the bike in any weather on any road.

The model has already acquired new characteristics, becoming closer to the class of full-size sports and tourist enduro. Now the motorcycle, equipped with the legendary V-4 engine, was capable of much. A powerful engine and the most advanced technologies gave the bike additional opportunities.
